One of the most common questions I get: “what weight should I be using for ___ exercise” . That’s impossible for me to answer- strength is different for everyone! I can give you solid advice though: start off with something even lighter than you THINK you can do. And focus on perfecting proper form BEFORE GOING HEAVY! . I cannot tress this enough.. just because you can MOVE a super heavy weight around doesn’t mean it’s benefiting you more... in fact it may be doing LESS to help you than a lighter weight would . WHY?⤵️😭 . When you use a weight that’s TOO HEAVY, you risk compromising your form. In order to move that heavy weight, your body can’t just rely on that one specific muscle tire trying to work— ❌it’s too much!— so it has to use other ways to move the weight: like buckling your knees, swaying/using momentum or using your lower back to move the weight instead..... THIS IS HOW INJURIES HAPPEN!...❌ .
