I’ve never been happier to sit and watch a dog eat in my life. Ralphie’s barely been eating lately. All he ate yesterday was dinner. He’s been throwing up and has awful diarrhea. It could be the pain (he can’t take his pain meds anymore 😭) or it could be his leukemia. We aren’t sure and the vets couldn’t give us a definitive answer. But he ate this morning. So I’m satisfied.
My darling girl Violet is gone and I’m devastated 😭 she lived a long and wonderful life but I can’t believe she’s gone. She was two and a half. She was one of the first rats I ever had. I got her and her sister Morgan at six weeks old. They led me into the world of rats and rat rescue, and eventually led me to one of my favorite people, @shady_spirits . Violet was always shy but incredibly sweet. She was never very cuddly but she loved to run around on the bed and burrow in the covers in my lap. In the past week, it was apparent that she was sick. She lost a lot of weight, she began to breathe with a click, and she went blind in one eye. It turned out that she had a pituitary tumor. She was old. At that age, sometimes, you just have to let them go. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. I thought she was going to die the night before last, but she made it one more day, and I feel so blessed I had more time. I got to spend more time cuddling and kissing her, desperately giving her love and affection even though she’s never been lacking it. Violet baby, I love you more than words can express. Your life was happy and comfortable and your death was natural and painless. I don’t think either of us could have asked for more. Regardless, I miss you. Keep in touch ❤️
Ralphie was diagnosed with lymphatic leukemia over the weekend. We are all heartbroken. He’s thirteen years old and has severe back, hip and joint pain and we were getting ready to have surgery for him to remove a fatty lump on his side that was impacting his movement even more and causing more pain. The blood work came back before surgery - he has cancer. He only has a few months left, and we decided not to do treatment, because even our vet warned us that the side effects are horrific. For now, he’s getting a raw diet with lots of herbal remedies, lots of Reiki healing and spoiling. He can’t take his painkillers anymore which is really unfortunate but he doesn’t seem to be in too much pain. Hopefully the #reiki is helping. He’s lived a long life for an 80 lb dog, especially one who came out of an overpacked kill shelter with heart worm. We love you Ralphie ❤️ always #olddogs#olddogsrule#rescuedogsofinstagram#rescuedogs#dogrescue#cutedogs#dogsofinstagram#dogsofig#cuteanimals#animalrescue#petcancerawareness#healing#animalhealing#alternativehealing#homeopathy#holisticveterinary
My two oldest rats aren’t doing too well 😭 they’re litter mates, and 2 and a half years old. Violet (first pic) has gone blind in her left eye and has lost a ton of weight and is losing hair. It seems that she has a pituitary tumor, and unfortunately it seems that her time with me is drawing to an end. She can’t see very well and is still adjusting to life with one good eye. She’s getting lots of extra treats and loving to make her comfortable and happy. Morgan, her sister, is doing better than Violet but she appears to have gone blind in both eyes. She has ruby eyes and has always had poor vision but now it appears to be completely gone. I’m so sad that they’re not doing well but I know that it’s life, and I’ll have to let them go eventually. I’m giving them lots of cuddles and attention while they’re still here ❤️ send them healing energy and love if you can, it’d be much appreciated!
Raphael ❤️ I love this little girl! When I brought her home, I thought she was a “mystical prophet,” according to her description. She tried to keep up the charade at first, but she couldn’t fool us long, try as she might. She’s actually a troublesome 9 year old girl who weaseled her way into a special place in my heart 😍 She is honestly such a giant pain in the ass! We can’t use the Ouija board when she’s around - she’s very powerful for a kid and will kick ANYONE off. She pretends to be other people, demons, whatever to trick you and bother you. I always think it’s funny, but no one else does, lol. That’s why she was meant for me I suppose! I always love the troublemakers. She has a “fun” habit of making her eyes glow red which I find so endearing. She’s so precious and small but she tries so hard to be scary! I will give her some credit - the first couple days she was here, she hid my keys in a jacket pocket I never wore. THAT kept me on my toes. She likes to scatter cat food, move stuff, knock things over, slightly rearrange other dolls, take toys, and of course play with the Ouija and pendulum board. I may never learn her past, as she’s never spoken to us except for pretending to be someone else, but that’s okay. I love her for who she is - trouble embodied!
Daisy, I feel you died far too young, but death was set on taking you. The illness you had was harsh and long lasting and refused to give up on destroying your body - but it never destroyed your soul. I hope your passing over was easy and quick, and that you end up where you’re meant to be. I hope you find your mom and sisters and I hope you’re happy. If I’m being honest, I selfishly hope that you, Flower and Leilani will stay with me and keep me company. But I know you’ll choose to do what is best for yourself. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for you in your death. I love you sweetheart. Rest easy 🌼💛
