The beauty of last night was that at the time, Gordon Parks had no idea his work would one day sell at a gala for $150,000. At the time... standing behind that lens his only objective was capturing that image and showing the reality of African-Americans living their day to day lives. The beauty of this event was embodying what it means to capture such monumental images. It’s as if these moments were so curated and beautiful it is almost impossible to believe they were candid- but they were and that is the what Gordon Parks delivered to us. Now let’s take that a step further and pass the baton to those working diligently to express their art and the love in this community for those who want to capture what it means to live in this society. Most importantly it is so beautiful to see black excellence celebrated. With that being said, I am so humbled and so grateful to attend the event last night, thank you @alexsoros for having me.
The end of an era.... I am so grateful to say in my career I had the opportunity to work for @interviewmag A publication that has contributed so much to fashion and editorial art along with pop culture. You will be truly missed however your work will live on forever. 💗
