Don’t get me wrong - I 100% advocate for clean eating. But this is a perfect example of why clean eating alone, without watching food intake or macro ratios, will almost NEVER produce weight loss. The macros for these 2 bars are basically the same - both high in fat, carbs and sugar. And your body processes all sugar the same - whether it’s fruit, dates, honey, agave, or white sugar. It will go to fill muscle & liver glycogen, and will then be stored as body fat if glycogen stores are full. My standards for a protein bar are high, and very few products meet this criteria. My bars must be: low fat, low sugar and high in fiber (fiber lowers the NET carbs). Which bars meet this standard? Quest Bars, No Cow Bars, Garden of Life Weight Loss Bars, and some of the Julian’s Bakery Bars. #iifym

Guilty as charged! It’s ok to have fitness goals, but it’s also important to make time for your crew. I was happy to see mine yesterday for impromptu BBQ, and even kept my food well within my macros☺️(I brought a salad, obviously lol 😂) It just takes determination to hit those macros at events - bring a dish, or check the restaurant menu ahead of time, and have a game plan in mind. Better yet - track that meal first thing in the AM, so you can plan the rest of your meals around it! #iifym

Raise your hand if you don’t have 2 hours to spend in the gym every day 🙋🏼‍♀️ Raise your hand if you still want to lose weight anyway 🙋🏼‍♀️ Read ON for my TOP 4 weight loss tips for busy ass people! 1️⃣ Become a morning person. Do your workout as soon as you wake up. Fasted workout is fine (but you must eat breakfast afterward). First, your workout is over & done with. Second, this AM exercise regulates your circadian rhythm to help you go to sleep earlier. (Conversely, a very late workout can really f*ck up your sleep cycle). 2️⃣ Workout at home (in the AM, see step 1!). Walmart & Amazon sell all kinds of affordable workout equipment. My personal favorites? Dumbbells that can add & subtract weight, and my incline sit up bench. Bodyweight HIIT workouts are great too, and require zero equipment. 3️⃣ Make your DIET do the majority of the work. Nutrition is 80% of your weight loss success anyway. You can’t outwork a shitty diet. But on the flipside, you can get away with LESS exercise if your diet is SMART and EFFECTIVE. 4️⃣ Do double workouts when you have time. I do a double workout every Saturday & Sunday. This allows me to schedule unplanned rest days during the work week where I just can’t find the time.  SIMPLE AS THAT! #getshredded

Before my wedding in 2010, I put myself on a low carb, sugar free diet. But once a week, I had a cheat day! Pizza, burger, whatever I was craving. I felt guilty about it, but I was losing lots of weight at the time. 7 years later, when I entered the world of bodybuilding, I realized those cheat days were actually weekly “refeeds” and that had been a large part of my weight loss success!
