Argentina 🇦🇷 was the first country in South America that I visited. I was 18 and went for my senior year spring break. A huge portion of the Italian side of my family lives there in Buenos Aires and I wanted to meet them and see the plaza and statue to our ancestor- Juan Lavalle. I was also lucky on that trip to hang out with an awesome alum @ramoncuau from my boarding school @uwcusa, visit Colonia in Uruguay 🇺🇾 and then take a long bus across the entire country to another alum in Mendoza @lucaskalik After a few days there it was off on another epic bus ride winding up and down the Andes until I reached Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱. What a perfect vacation full of family, friends, food, and some solo reflection. I’ve since returned twice- once in 2011 for a work project (randomly located in a town called Lavalle) and my family’s lively New Year’s Eve party, and then again last year with @sigmundlloyd (who took this bright yet shadowed photo) to see Iguazu Falls which for the longest time was my #1 travel desire. It did not disappoint! I’m sure I’ll be back soon as I’m yet to go to Patagonia!!
