Introducing the latest nail art feature that we are all obsessed with here at Poppy - 3D Korean nail designs inspired by one of our all time favorite nail artists, @nail_unistella. These unique art pieces are available by the sheet in the shop for $30 and can be creatively applied by one of our nail artists to 1 or all 10 of your nails during your next gel manicure. The application is included in the price so there’s no extra charge. We’re pretty sure you’re going to love them as much as we do! Please make sure you book “nail art” if you’d like to try these out at your next appointment.

NAIL HEALTH TIP #7: Why we wear gloves! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you ever had a nail artist use their fingernail to clean up polish left outside your nail? Or, not wear gloves during your service? These are big NO-NO's in our books. 🙅 Since fingernails can be home to various types of bacteria, we feel these precautions should be no-brainers but are seeing it happen too often. When you come to us you will never have to worry about either of these things. We wear gloves during all of our services to protect the health of you and our staff. So, the next time you have someone working on you without wearing gloves or using their fingernail (yuck!) to clean up polish, just say NO! Keeping our clients and staff safe is the cornerstone of what we strive to provide and we wouldn't have it any other way! #themoreyouknow
NAIL HEALTH TIP #6: Proper Sanitization! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's a big part of what we believe in at Poppy & Monroe. We use a medical grade steam & pressure autoclave which heats up to 250 degrees. This is the most used appliance we own because we run every set of tools we use through it every time we use them. You won't find our tools in a UV light box around here. Those "UV sterilizers" are actually banned in some states now due to their ineffectiveness. Only a high-pressure autoclave actually removes bacterial spores given the temperature it reaches. #themoreyouknow
NAIL HEALTH TIP #5: Disposable Supplies! We break out a fresh set of tools for each and every client because your health and safety is our primary concern. Buffers, toe separators, flip-flops, nail files, and pumice stones should never be reused since their porous texture makes them impossible to properly sanitize. We are serious about providing you with peace of mind which is why we use new tools, why we keep the lighting bright and why we're maniacal about cleaning. There's nothing worse than worrying about these things when you're trying to relax. This may be a more expensive way to run a business, but in our mind, it's the only way. #themoreyouknow

NAIL HEALTH TIP #4: Say NO to cuticle cutting! 🙅♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cutting cuticles is actually harmful to your nails. It is a practice that is solely cosmetic, making your cuticles grow back faster and begin to fray -- not so pretty, right? Most importantly, this small layer of skin protects against infections. If removed, your nail becomes vulnerable to bacteria and fungus. These types of infections are not always quick or easy to get rid of. We consider this a big NO-NO. Instead, we gently push your cuticles back and buff them so your nails look perfected without destroying or cutting the cuticle. Swipe left to see how good your cuticles can look before & after without cutting! #themoreyouknow
NAIL HEALTH TIP #3: Waterless Mani/Pedis! 💦 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You may have noticed our pedicure chairs don't have soaking tubs. That's because we specialize in waterless services! There are four primary reasons: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Our nails swell in water which can cause polish to chip and peel. 2. Soaking can cause your nails to be more susceptible to splitting or breaking. 3. Going waterless also reduces the risk of water-borne bacteria and infections. 4. Going waterless roughly saves 12 gallons of water per pedicure! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You may then be wondering, if I'm not soaking in water is it clean? You bet! Your health and safety is of utmost concern to us so we begin all services by spraying our client's hands and feet with a refreshing botanical cleansing spray containing aloe, witch hazel, alcohol, tea tree oil, lavender and Vitamin E. This is followed by a warm towel wrap containing all-natural, antibacterial essential oils for maximum cleanliness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ Bonus ✨ that time you'd traditionally spend soaking can now be used for massage and who doesn't love that! 💅🏼
🌟 NAIL HEALTH TIP #1: Proper gel removal! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We all have our vices but peeling off gel polish shouldn't be one! We know it's tempting, believe us, we've been there too, but it's actually one of the most damaging things you can do to your nails. Here's the scoop: your nails are composed of cells called keratinocytes and under a microscope, these cells look like shingles on a roof. When you peel your polish you are removing the gel as well as the top layer of your nail. This results in white patches, grooves, and severally weakened nails. Next time you're feeling tempted to peel your gel polish remember you're peeling your delicate nail off with it too. Come in and let us take it off the right way. We use orangewood sticks to gently remove only the gel (not your nail) and we don't rush the process so you can feel comfortable knowing your nails will be as healthy when you leave as when you arrived. #themoreyouknow
