We have enjoyed browsing social media these past few days and reliving the book festival through your experiences. This post, in particular, moved us to tears. We ❤️ readers and writers and when they come together like this...well, it’s why we do what we do. Repost from @sandramirez21_ - Today I woke up at 4 am, drove 4 hours and then waited out in 50 degree weather to be able to hear Sandra Cisneros read us some of her poems. I cried during her panel, and then ugly cried while meeting one of my biggest role models. As a young student in elementary I read her short stories that helped me fall in love with reading while in college I found comfort in her novels while I struggled to discover who I was. Sandra, you are such an inspiration to me and to a lot of other young women and are a prime example of why representation is so important. 💗
Another festival in the books! Thanks to everyone who came out to the @mysapl Central Library and the @southwestschoolofart today! We had a wonderful time celebrating ideas, books, libraries, and literary culture. . Save the date for April 6, 2019! . . . #sabookfest#satx#sanantonio#bookfest#bookfestival
