We are spending spring break in the little string of islands and cays just to the east of the island where we live. I am loving how many design and work decisions I’ve been able to make with my mind so clear. I’m not even working but the ideas are flowing so I’m keeping a list of notes on my phone to attend to when we go home. Maybe watching this beautiful water will help you too. πŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ˜ #nofilternedeed If you want to see more of our adventures, I log our sailing trips over at @the_kairos_crew πŸ’“β›΅οΈβ˜€οΈ
It was an exciting day yesterday (for me anyways 😜) to launch the Holy Week Coloring Book I’ve been working on. Thank you all so much for your encouragement and support! πŸ’“ There are 15 illustrations from the life of Jesus in the coloring book, each with a scripture reference to read the story that goes with the illustration. I also added the page number for the stories in the Jesus Storybook Bible as I know so many of us love reading that with our kids! • If you want to do one page a day with the last one on Easter Sunday, plan to begin this Sunday March 18th. β˜€οΈ Please let me know if you have any questions! πŸ€— [link in profile to purchase the digital download for the coloring book]
I’m putting the finishing touches on the Holy Week coloring book and we filmed the kids over the weekend for the little video promo (like we did for the Jesse Tree coloring book). And 😱 our kids have grown so much over the past three months! Swipe for some of the action. Baby Violet is putting everything in her mouth, Mason is reading, and Karis is mean muggin’. That pretty much sums up life at our house right now!! πŸ˜†πŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’œ
It’s been 8 months since we packed up & moved to the Bahamas. While my husband is from here, we didn’t move back to the island where he grew up, we moved to a different island and we basically didn’t know anyone here. That was somewhat scary, but we knew this particular island was a great fit for our family. • I’ve met so many wonderful women and while I would definitely consider them friends, we all know that deep friendships take a lot of time (years!) to cultivate. After having these close sister-friend type of friendships in Birmingham, I’m eager to have them here as well, and I often find myself obsessing and strategizing over how to fast-track the process. 😝 The entire thing has felt a lot like dating and I’ve been surprised at the feelings of nervousness and insecurity that have surfaced. πŸ‘€ I’ve been thinking a lot over the past month about who I am and what I want to be known for. How would someone describe me? I’ve realized how strongly I desire to be welcomed and invited, to be liked and even loved. And if I’m being completely honest, maybe I even want to be adored a little. 😬🀭 • Two books I’m reading right now have in different ways spoken about how sometimes (often times🀷🏻‍♀️) we are wrongly focused on our own little kingdom, and this really convicted me as it illuminated the pride in my heart in all of this. John Piper says that “God’s will for human beings is not that we find our joy in being praised, but that we find our joy in knowing and praising Him.” These books are about parenting & working, but I can see how these concepts apply in all of our relationships. I see how we need to free up our friends, our neighbors, our colleagues, our children(!), our spouses(!).... from serving the purposes of our own little kingdom. They were never meant to fulfill our needs of comfort, success, control.... reputation.... 😬 This type of pride & neediness is like a ravenous appetite that will never be
πŸ’“Sugar & spice and everything nice. πŸ’“ • It has felt like summertime here in the Bahamas this weekend, and I am loving Violet’s sweet baby thighs in this dainty little @shopsonnyjames romper. 😍😍 #notanad #justsomethingilove
Has anyone else’s bookmark section on Instagram become like a whole ‘nother Pinterest? πŸ’πŸ»‍♀️ I have a few categories on mine for our canal cottage dreams, and modern canopy beds are a reoccurring theme for our future master bedroom. 😍 I’m obsessed with this one from @shoppe_by_ai #canalcottageinspo #aid500kgiveaway
Our hotel room last night was a little suite with a bunk bed tucked into a nook in the back. When we walked in, I instantly felt like the space was familiar. I didn’t have a tape measure, but I pulled out the 3 yard roll of ribbon I have in my suitcase for the girls and confirmed that yes — it is the exact dimensions of the tiny house plan I’ve been working and reworking the past few weeks. • 16’ x 26’ with a sleeping loft. I’ve been laying here all morning and thinking —- we could definitely live in this amount of space!! #tinyhousedreams #canalcottageinspo
The sea never ceases to amaze me. #gulfstream
A little something fun about our island is that we can take a cruise ship overnight to Florida. 🚒 We are taking it tomorrow night to go to Disney for our kids’ winter break from school. I’ve been preparing for our trip for months and I have that same excited feeling I have when I’m wrapping up a big design project! πŸ˜†πŸ˜† • I know everyone has their super helpful Disney tips. Feel Free to share below!! (Our kids are (almost) 8, 5 and 1.)
I’m dreaming of a white kitchen. Just like the ones I used to know. 🎢🎢 I have an upper level obsession with this kitchen by @studiolifestyle_ The woven pendants, director chairs, shiplap, the contrast of the black door. Perfectly layered. Perfectly edited. Just all kinds of 😍😍😍. #canalcottageinspo
*New printable in Etsy shop!* Having easy to follow routine charts has helped our daily transition times become soooo much smoother. Positive and peaceful are the two words that come to mind! πŸ’“ It is nice to feel like we are not nagging our kids every step of the way, but even more than that, we have seen their self esteem soar through the process! They love being able to do this on their own. And yes, that is a certain little bear named “B” (our son’s lovey) that walks them through the process. • Click over to the shop through the link in my profile to check them out. [And while you’re there, if you loved the Jesse Tree Coloring Book during Advent, it would be such a huge help to me if you left a review. Etsy prioritizes shops with lots of reviews and as a brand new shop, I could really use your help!! 😘xoxo]
That curl. That belly. 😍😍 The baby of the family turns one soon. I’m not ready to talk about it. 😭 #thedaysarelongbuttheyearsareshort πŸ’ž

Wish you were here. πŸ’“πŸ˜ŠπŸ’“
I’ve gotten several questions about our tervis tumblers with the kids’ silhouettes on them. Aren’t they the cutest!! πŸ€—πŸ˜ We had my friend @lindsiemosleycreative do these for us and I am excited to say she and I are going to do a silhouette giveaway next week! πŸ˜πŸŽ‰ • About a year ago we wanted to cut down on the number of cups that were being dirtied on a daily basis. There were always so many!! 😳 But in order to have a cup for each person sitting out on the counter all the time, they had to be beautiful! Form AND function is my modus operandi. πŸ˜† • Keep an eye πŸ‘€ out for the giveaway next week when you can win a paper cut or vinyl sticker silhouette of your child. There’s so much you can do with these cuties!! I’ll share some more ideas, but I’m curious, what would you do with a vinyl silhouette sticker of your kiddo?? I’m all ears! πŸ‘‚πŸ»πŸ‘‚πŸ»πŸ˜†
Work today consisted of construction details for a client’s residence back in Alabama and updating our kids’ routine charts. I’m going to add this printable to the Etsy shop soon because these have been such a big help to us. • Whether through design and planning or establishing routines and systems, helping other people get their homes running smoothly really makes my heart sing! I guess thats when you know you’re serving in all the right places.... right? πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“
Sending you some sunshine wherever you are. β˜€οΈ The sun has even been hiding here the past few days, but today it’s back!
We just found out this week that Karis and the other girls in her class are going to be flamingos in Jr. Junkanoo!! They are going to be adorable!! Junkanoo is an annual tradition in the Bahamas where teams create amazing costumes and do a street parade with dancing and music. I’m so excited for our kids to participate in this aspect of Bahamian culture, especially Karis! Jr. Junkanoo is nowhere near as impressive as the real deal, but it will still be fun, and I think you all know how I feel about kids in costumes!! πŸ˜πŸ’“πŸ˜πŸ’“
