Thank you for 300 followers! Grateful to feel like part of the community, especially over the last few months missing my lil guy and waiting for the new girl! Going to the #yyc parrot club meeting tonight to get my birdy fix in! (Guess how many failed attempts there were trying to get this flying shot... there were also some raspberry bribes involved)
A few weeks ago I asked the lovely @leighellexson if she would do a commission of my wee bird. It means so much to me and I absolutely love how it turned out! I’m going to get a nice frame and it will go in a place of honour in my new home 🐥💛
Signed a new lease and am moving June 1st - it’s hard to think of moving from the home that birdie and I made. It was as much his place as it was mine. I was cleaning today and found a few little yellow feathers - missing my dude, as usual. 🌈❤️
“I love my bird. I don’t think it’s a thing you can understand if you’re not a bird person. How could you? I got my first parrotlet in almost two years ago and I never expected my birds to effect me the way they have. I’ve had dogs, horses, hamsters, and toads, but nothing has quite been like my parrotlets. You get them home and you’re left with this teeny, confused little baby. Over the next months, the personality comes out, and you realize you have this giant bundle of zest and life that you get to have all to yourself. What is it about birds? It’s the way the feathers catch the light in the sun. The first time they say “hello” back when you take them out of their cage. How some mornings you wake up to a sweet singing voice and some mornings you wake up to “WHERE ARE YOU I DEMAND ATTENTION NOW!”. The day you realize there is literally poop on every piece of clothing you have ever owned and loved - but you don’t really care. They way they start to blink and yawn when they get sleepy - you can see the miniscule eyelashes in the right light. When they’re tired enough to fall asleep and tuck up a leg in your cupped hands and you can feel the quick little heartbeat and you understand that this tiny, sweet little being trusts you so much that they’ll depend on you to keep them safe. To know that no matter how bad the day, this little soul relies on you and will always love you, be bonded to you, and be happy to see you.” - my post from 2012.
