Flags flying at Naropa festival at Hemis monastery in Ladakh. Thousands of people from across the Himalayas gathered at Hemis to celebrate the life of Buddhist philosopher and scholar Naropa, who lived between 1016 to 1100 CE, in their tradition ways with singing and cultural events. Famous as the Himalayan Kumbh, the Naropa Festival is celebrated after every 12 years of the Tibetan calendar. The festival, however, took place this time after two years as many of the devotees could not attend it in 2016. The monastery is also planning to make it an annual event from this year onwards. #travel #travelblogger #travelgram #travelphotography #travelstories #tourism #india #incredibleindia #himalayas #buddhism #hemis #naropa #monastery #culture #festival #jammuandkashmir #leh #ladakh #mountains #adventure #biking #royalenfield #photography #photooftheday #picoftheday #pictureoftheday
Living on the edge! A small monastery sitting inside a rock cut on the face of a straight cliff. This mountain is on the other side of Bhaga river on the Keylong to Baralacha-La road. Once I noticed it, couldn't keep my eyes off it and wondering... just why!! But this road is perhaps full of many such wonders at every step! #travel #travelblogger #travelgram #travelphotography #travelstories #tourism #india #incredibleindia #himachalpradesh #himalayas #manali #leh #keylong #jammuandkashmir #baralachala #mountains #manalilehhighway #adventure #biking #royalenfield #rocks #photography #photooftheday #picoftheday #pictureoftheday #buddhism #monastery
A window to another world! Rocks sitting precariously, may be since ages, at the top of Gata Loops. At an altiitude of more than 15,300 feet, there is a view point to absorb some of the most magnificent views of the rugged landscape. On the other side is the Nakeela Pass, one of the five high mountain passes on the Manali-Leh road! #travel #travelblogger #travelphotography #travelgram #travelstories #tourism #india #incredibleindia #himachalpradesh #manali #leh #jammuandkashmir #gataloops #nakeelapass #manalilehroad #adventure #biking #himalayas #mountains #royalenfield #rocks #photography #photooftheday #picoftheday #pictureoftheday #dangerousroads

Reflecting your innerself as it is! Catching a perfect reflection is never so easy, more so in a natural environment- when everything has to be perfect- light, angle and even wind; hence this one is very close to my heart. Again at the same Chandratal lake in Spiti at an altitude of 4200 metres! The secret about this image is that, it has been rotated 180 degree, i.e. upside down. What we see at the top is water and sky is below. Were you able to guess it? Let me know. #travel #travelgram #travelblogger #travelphotography #travelstories #reflection #reflections #reflectionphotography #reflectiongram #adventure #mountains #himalayas #india #incredibleindia #trekking #biking #mountaineering #royalenfield #himachalpradesh #lakes #chandratal #moonlake #photography #photooftheday #pictureoftheday #picoftheday #instapic #camping #nature
No matter how you try to control yourself, it is just very-very difficult to put your cameras inside when there are views like this all around you. You have to just drag your feet to move away from here. You can see (Chandrabhaga) CB13 and CB14 peaks reflecting their full glory in the Chandratal lake. Early morning is the best time to capture perfect reflections in this lake located at an altitude of 4200 metres. #travel #travelblogger #nature #adventure #biking #trekking #mountains #himalayas #lakes #india #incredibleindia #spiti #himachalpradesh #chandratal #chandertal #moonlake #chandrabhaga #chandrariver #photography #photooftheday #picoftheday #pictureoftheday #instapic #travelgram #travelstories #camping #reflections
When you feel that the everything around you has gone still- the time, the life, the air and the water! And you are so mesmerised that you won't like this stillness to be broken. You just want to remain in these moments for ever! There are only a few places which can cast a magical spell on you as this early morning view of Chandratal lake in Spiti. Who won't want to go there all over again and again!! #travel #travelgram #tourism #india #incredibleindia #himachalpradesh #spiti #chandratal #himalayas #lakes #highaltitudelake #adventure #biking #trekking #royalenfield #photography #reflection #reflectionphotography #instapic #photooftheday #picoftheday #kunzumpass #sunrise #sundaystills
Morning lights on Chandrabhaga14 peak also refered to as CB14. Chandrabhaga 14 is part of the magnificent Chandrabhaga (CB) range of mountains in the Batal region of Himachal Pradesh. This peak is suitable for mountaineers seeking to experience a 6000 metre summit. This peak lies in the C. B. Range in the central Lahaul massif. The name of the range comes from the two Rivers Chandra and Bagha which mark the border of the massif. While climbing up this peak you have to walk on the huge Dhaka glacier, which is the biggest glacier in Lahaul Valley. From top of the peak you have a great view of the Kunzum Range, the magnificent Chandratal Lake and the Chandra River. From the Chandratal campsite, you get excellent views of the CB14 and CB13 peaks. #travel #tourism #india #incredibleindia #adventure #biking #trekking #mountaineering #lahaul #spiti #himalayas #chandratal #kunzumpass #chandrabhaga14 #cb14 #sunrise #photography #photooftheday #picoftheday #instapic #himachalpradesh #cbrange #batal
Goods under the clouds! After yesterday's Papsura, this is now Dharamsura (6420 metres)- the peak of good! Seen from the same location on road to Spiti between Chatru and Batal, just after Chota Dara. These two aesthetically and technically very interesting mountains are connected by a ridge of 1.9 kilometers. This col has an altitude of more than 6000 meters and this ridge has so far been largely unclimbed. These peaks divide the Tos glacier in the south and the Bara Shigri glacier in Lahaul, in the North. The first ascent on Dharamsura was in 1941. It was climbed by a British expedition. From the East Tos glacier they climbed to the col south of the peak and from there they followed the ridge to the top. #travel #tourism #adventure #trekking #mountaineering #peaks #himalayas #india #incredibleindia #spiti #biking #batal #photography #picoftheday #instapic #papsura #dharamsura #evil #good #culture #lahaul #blueskies #pirpanjal #climbing #ridge #mountains #expedition
Love the Devil! This is the Papsura peak as seen from road to Spiti between Chatru and Batal, near Chota Dara. Papsura is the third highest mountain in Kullu/Lahul/Spiti which divides the Himachal Himalayas. It lies near the point where the Pir Panjal range branches off from the Great Himalayan Divide. This is one of the two striking twin peaks over 6,400m high which are known in Lahul as the Peaks of Good and Evil (i.e. Dharmsura and Papsura), and are said to vary in height according to the good or evil that prevail in the world. Obviously, Papsura at altitude of 6440 metres (6451 metres acccording to some) is higher, always! Papsura was first climbed in 1967, by a British Team who climbed from the Malana Glacier in the west via the Animal Pass, to the base of the mountain. These days the attempts are made via Tosh Nala in the south, which has got a much shorter approach. #travel #tourism #adventure #trekking #mountaineering #peaks #himalayas #india #incredibleindia #spiti #biking #batal #photography #photooftheday #picoftheday #instapic #papsura #dharmsura #evil #culture #lahaul #blueskies #pirpanjal
This day, that year! Bridge on Chandra river at Chatru on way to Chandratal from Manali. Chatru is next village from Gramphoo towards Kunzum Pass. Located at an altitude of 3300 metres, Chatru is 17 kms from Gramphoo. Chatru is also the end point of Hampta Pass trek. Chandra river originates from Chandratal and goes to Kashmir via Keylong. With construction of a new bridge, this bridge is no longer used for vehicles. #travel #tourism #india #incredibleindia #adventure #himalayas #biking #royalenfield #chatru #manali #rohtang #chandratal #chandra #photooftheday #picoftheday #photography #rivers #bridges #instapics #himachalpradesh #himachal #trekking #dangerousroads #hangingbridge #spiti #kunzumpass

An anxious baby camel at Hunder sand dunes in Nubra valley, only place in India where one can see the double humped camels. The double-hump camel has been native of Gobi desert, and is found on a vast expanse of cold-desert areas across Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and parts of Afghanistan. It is said that they reached here with Mongolian attackers and few of them were left stranded when the much-popular silk-route was closed. Now they are mere tourist attraction at this sside of Leh. #travel #tourism #india #incredibleindia #adventure #ladakh #leh #nubravalley #desert #hundersanddunes #photooftheday #photography #camel #instapics #travelblog #picoftheday #himalayas #camelride #doublehumpcamel
