I am sending constant prayers to the families in Santa Fe, TX who were affected by todays senseless act of gun violence at Santa Fe High School! This is so close to home for me and scary as I am about to send my child of to Kindergarten in 3 months! 😌 . . Kiss your kids and tell them how much you love them, no matter how late you are getting them out the door to school! 🙏🏻
Wear a piece of history for Juneteenth. On this day June 19, 1865, on Galveston Island, Texas, on the balcony of the Ashton Villa, General Granger read aloud the contents of General Order No. 3, announcing the total emancipation of slaves. The end of slavery in America. A day of celebration! Link on profile @differenttees1
Feeling so blessed this Mother's Day! Last Fall our family gained a son when our daughter Jennifer married the love of her life, Matthew. And, in a few short days our youngest, Grace graduates high school. All is well, we are blessed! Photo by @mustardseedphotography
The brides vision came to life in this gorgeous floral fireplace at the Historic Ashton Villa in Galveston. Our Brass Candlesticks stand over two feet tall but look so tiny on this massive fireplace that stands 9 feet at the mantle.
For this week’s client feature, I wanted to share a bit of Garret’s story with y’all, “I have to say how appreciative I am for what I have, but also proud of the work I have put in to get to this point. 4 years ago I was living on my best friend's couch, having moved home from a 3 year adventure in New York. While I don't regret my time there, it wasn't the most productive period in my life. So I moved home and had to start over. 4 years later I am married, working on my bachelor's degree, have released 2 albums and counting with a band that is gaining attention quickly, made life long friends, gotten myself to a healthy weight, and built my credit from the low 500s to the upper middle 600s. I can attribute a good chunk of that success, however small it may be to my lovely wife who didn't run to the hills when I told her I had no drivers license, rode a bicycle to work at Chili's, and lived in Stinkadena. She encouraged me to better myself and made me believe I could achieve what I have and what I will. This summer we will buy our first home, as I was just informed this afternoon that I was approved for a mortgage. I've got a long way to go, but I have come so very far that it makes me look forward to the obstacles ahead. I know I can hurtle them because I've already leapt over so many. Here's to the uphill climb.” Garret shared this back in March, so I’m sure that he has achieved even more success since then. I am so happy for him and Auliya and I cannot wait to see what their future holds in store for them.
I was honored to be a part of my assistant photographer's wedding at Ashton Villa in Galveston! It was so difficult to hold back the tears while shooting their first look. Phillip rarely left Lindsey's side the entire evening. Their love for each other will last forever!
A little waterside reading is good for the soul! Miss Bettie Brown was the daughter of a wealthy Galveston businessman. She never married and was known for her lavish spending, collection of Angora cats, and racing down Broadway in a chariot. Her childhood home, Ashton Villa, is preserved on the island and she features in my novel, offering Alfred and his birding mentor an afternoon tea to remember! - I love incorporating real people into my novel, pulling from the island's history and enriching Alfred's experience. It's my favorite part of writing historical fiction! - What's your favorite aspect of writing in a particular genre?
T.Burley isn't "T.Burley" anymore, exciting evening! Bonus points because I got to hang with these two beauties and their men! @alexisraegonzo @chelseaagutierrez_ #surfstylesfamily#ashtonvilla#galaviz313
