Ryan repping well over his bodyweight after just his third deadlifting session. Being 6’6 tall, that bar has a LONG way to travel. He will be deadlifting 300 pounds come December. He’s going to be a real handful towards opponents this year on the court!

Prone press-ups can work great to improve LUMBAR spine mobility into extension although it's hard to bias the movement in the THORACIC spine if this is the area you are trying to target - 📌 Placing a folded towel under your forearms to "pin down" the thoracic spine can help to better isolate the movement in this area - 📌 And if you want to work on extension mobility higher up in the thoracic spine, grabbing the towel and pulling DOWN and FORWARD can help to move the fulcrum higher - 💥 Try short holds for more reps (e.g. 5 second holds for 20 reps) or long holds (e.g. 20 second holds for 10 reps) depending on the goal of the exercise and what feels better for you - ❤️ TAG someone who could benefit from working on their thoracic spine mobility 👌🏼
I’m a big fan of anteriorly loaded (front loaded) lunges and squats. Because the load is on the front of the body, greater core stabilization required to keep the torso upright.  This has a greater carryover to the sports world—especially for my baseball guys. - - There are a few ways to hold a front loaded barbell. Swipe over to see images and keep reading for the reasoning/descriptions! - - 1. Front Rack- This is probably the best grip for Front Squats/Lunges if your goal is to progress it to Olympic lifts. The issue with this grip is it can be a little uncomfortable on the wrists. There are a couple alternatives to the front rack position 👇🏼 - - 2. Crossed Arms- To help the wrist issue, many folks use the crossed arms position. This takes the pressure off of the wrists, however, some may feel unstable with heavy loads and it takes away from the thoracic extension that the front rack position offers. - - 3. Strap Grip- Lastly, we have the straps. This is my “go-to” Front Squat/Lunge grip for those who are not comfortable with the front rack. I like this because it still allows for good thoracic extension without killing the wrists.
Agility training. Something every Junior athlete needs to know!  Agility and Change of direction (CoD) are very commonly mixed up as being the same thing, however they are two separate skills in their own right respectively.  CoD doesn’t require a reaction to make and can be considered a closed skill as you know where to begin and where you will end. Agility on the other hand can be considered an open skill as there is no clear-cut beginning and end to it and requires more of a decision-making process to be completed well.  So why do coaches and athletes constantly place in pre-planned drills into training and not reactive drills, if wanting to increase agility? CoD understandably is important and does have its place, yet when research has shown having a greater reaction ability is what distinguishes higher level athletes from lower level athletes why aren’t reactive drills being implemented more?  True agility drills, just like CoD drills, aren’t complicated in their implementation and can be implemented in a variety of ways. Sometimes, step ups just aren’t hard enough 🤷🏼‍♂️ Emphasizing knee drive and Dorsi-flexion in speed training is essential. Resisting these step ups with a band for @tayler.34 is just one way to kill two birds with one stone. Forced Dorsi-flexion to keep the band on, strength development as the main goal of the lift, and hip flexor strength on top of it. 🔰TUESDAY TRAINING TIP🔰 Performing a Wide Grip Lat PullDown. - Looking back at last week, I coached on the fact that a Neutral Grip Pulldown should include a slightly backward lean. WELL, when performing a Wide Grip Lat PullDown, you want to sit in a more upright position. - Leaning back with a Wide Grip can cause more activation of the trapezius and rhomboids (mid-back). WHICH ISNT A BAD THING!! | VERTICAL PULL |  Many people want to achieve a body weight pull up. Many of us have been told about eccentrics and isometrics that are indeed very effective. What many of us might not think about is ‘Where does your pull up lack strength’  The typical band from the top of the bar gives us an abundance of assistance through majority of the movement. However sometimes a more effectively method can be implementing specific band tension at only the ‘weak’ positions, rather than the entire movement! Errands for the day are over and one of them included going to Home Depot to pick up this plot of green artificial turf for the roof deck. Thanks to my boy Jose @jose_a_24 for the idea. Literally just plopped it down, and haven’t yet sealed it with the glue. Now I have a little outdoor oasis where I can do some workouts and even shoot some videos for IG, YouTube and my clients. - Who wants to come work out with me and be in one of my videos? _ By the way I was prepared to pay quite a bit for the turf and when I got to Home Depot I had even picked what I wanted and the worker was ready to cut it. But then he motioned me over to a discount area where they had some precut rugs and showed me the exact turf I was looking for already cut and heavily discounted. I didn’t even get the guys name but he definitely hooked me up. When you’re good to people and personable you never know how life will bless you. I can’t even tell you what I got this for. Just know it was more than 60% off the original price.
