For obvious reasons this cause is very close to our hearts ♥️ Hearing about Eli’s illness last December was heartbreaking for all of us here at F1T, we are supporting Eoin in his fundraising efforts 100% and we would hope that anyone who reads his story will help in whatever way possible πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›πŸ’ͺ🏻 Why is Eoin walking to Dublin? Read his story below πŸ’› —————————————— 2018 • BELIEF • Walk • —————————————— WHY AM I WALKING TO DUBLIN? Last November 3rd my son Eli was born. After a 4 week check up he was unwell which was being put down to a stomach bug. After a further week of unrest we brought him to south doc on a Saturday at 3.30pm due to frequent vomitting. After a once over from the doctor we were sent to the Bons at 4.45pm. After a few tests in the bons, they suspected kidney infection. After this the paediatrician was called in. At 8pm Eli took a turn for the worse and they believed his heart or kidneys were failing. After a series of rushed tests and x rays etc, they discovered a blocked tube from the kidney to the bladder. With this blocked tube, the infected urine was infecting his blood. We were told at 9pm we needed to rush to either Crumlin or Temple Street. The problem was that, Eli wasn’t well enough to travel at the time as he wouldn’t be strong enough to survive the journey to Dublin. At 11pm the priest was called to bless Eli & at 12am the doctors passed him fit enough for the ambulance journey. The ambulance took 3.5 hours to arrive (we knew it would take 2hrs) – this was due to the snow that weekend. It took us 5.5 hours to make it up in the snow. After travelling through the night, arriving in Dublin and getting Eli set up, my wife and I found it incredibly difficult to accept the situation at the start. I made a decision that morning that I needed to be the best version of myself, in order to help my wife and more importantly Eli cope with what was about to
You may have seen these posters around the gym and on many other people's pages, here is why this means so much to us and everyone else. πŸ–€πŸ’› 2018 • BELIEF • Walk • —————————————— Why I am walking to Dublin? —————————————— 2018 • BELIEF • Walk • —————————————— Final training block- Week 1. Last week was the start of the final block. I did 4 10 km walks and my total steps was 134,000 steps for the week, 7 days, everything from the walks to work and daily neat etc. I’m guessing the total steps to Dublin will be over 300,000 steps if I don’t take a wrong turn or two. I’m hoping the walk will take no longer than 4 days. 51 hours of total walking. Aiming to walk at least over 65km a day. 12/13 hours of walking. Alone. πŸ‘πŸ» Training will consist of walking 4 times a week. Weights 3 times a week. Mobility 5/6 times a week . GoFundMe link in bio ☝🏻 —————————————— November I’m going to walk from Ballincollig, Cork to our lady’s hospital in Crumlin. Over 250Km to raise money for Crumlin Children’s Hospital. —————————————— When my wife, Eli & I were in crumlin for a week last year, walking helped me through the whole experience. It helped me clear my mind, gained me Acceptance of the situation and cleared my mind every day. —————————————— 2018 • BELIEF • Walk • —————————————— #irishfitfam #dubfitness #fitfam #corkfitfam #fehilysfitness #eli #kobe #fehily #mambamentality #babymamba #crumlin #crumlinchildrenshospital #thefutureisyouththefutureisf1t #thisisf1tness

—————————————— 2018 • BELIEF • Walk • —————————————— Final Block - Another 10km done today, 2 down, 2 to go this week. I will be aiming to get 4 walks in a week for the training this time round. Last time I was aiming for one big walk a week and extend that each week. Body is feeling good, no matter how long I walk, first 3-5 km is horrible, I shouldn’t do it, glute is sore, hamstring is tight, knee is stinging. Always feel great after it! Hello world, Bryant Wesley smith is here. My fiancé was a warrior and did amazing. He’s in icu at the moment because fluid build up, but they reassured us that he’s fine and will be good very soon. We named him Bryant after my idol Kobe Bryant, someone who I loved and admired growing up even to this day. I learned so much from him, he’s molded me into the strong willed passionate person iam today. I hope one day that I can pass on my teachings to my sons as Kobe helped me. Work extremely hard, be very passionate in your craft, always always be self motivated no matter what. Strive to be great at whatever it is you love in this life. Thank you lord for our awesome boys. #bryantsmith #babymamba #august8th2018 #littleknightπŸ¦‡

—————————————— 2018 • BELIEF • Walk • —————————————— Final Block - Just a note to help anyone looking to start training again after a time away, I’m a personal trainer who has started walking this year, going from the couch to walking ultra marathons. In jan I walked 50km, Feb - 78km, March - I failed 100km and did back to back marathons 85km. I was badly injured and got back walking and did a marathon and ultra marathon of 50km. The last 4/6 weeks, due to the heat, I focused on rehab and prehab. To get back to my walking, I got back to basics, just because I did those walks, they mean nothing now, my body still needs to build up to get back there, I see loads of people trying to just jump back into the deep end with training “because they used be able, or used to do x,y,z”. You have to keep it simple. With my training I was always using the long weekend as the marker to re start my long distance training. I did this by, for the 2 weeks before I started, I increased my weekly step count, not with long walks but by moving more as much as I could, walk the long route to somewhere I was going. This week i will be doing 4 separate 10km walks, only 10km, i USED to do longer walks but that was before, in the past. For anyone looking to get back into fitness after the summer, build yourself up, ease in each week and don’t expect to be able to do what you did weeks/months ago. This is very important for people lifting weights also!! GoFundMe link in bio ☝🏻 —————————————— November I’m going to walk from Ballincollig, Cork to our lady’s hospital in Crumlin.
