Tldr;; Our sweet underdog hive is still struggling and we aren't sure what to do! . Whole story: ▶️ On first inspection after relocation, we found no queen, no eggs, and no brood. About a week later we bought a queen and introduced her cage to the hive to very friendly and receptive workers. We also added a frame of eggs, brood, and nurse bees from our stable hive. ▶️ After about a week, they had not released the queen from her cage, but we found more eggs/brood than we had introduced and three queen cells. Workers were still calmly attending to the queens cage. Was there a laying worker? It didn't seem like there were many drone cells.. Had there been a queen all along? We released her from the cage the next day. . ▶️About a week after releasing her from her cage, the queen is nowhere to be found. There are no eggs, although there is capped worker and drone brood. It might be old/dead. The hive is condensed down to one brood box with the upper box being totally empty. ▶️Current: we don't know what to do. There is a ton of honey and pollen and the bees are extremely calm. It is still a high majority of workers. . The first video is from today, workers excavating a dead larvae. 😢 The second video is from a week ago, before we released the queen from her cage. They seem so happy with her...?
