What does the scale really tell you - Most people when starting a fat loss phase tend to begin by cutting out carbohydrate as low carbohydrate diet is one of the most popular methods people follow - At the initial phase, it is common to see a good amount of "weight loss" on the scale. However, it is not all "fat" - Through a reduction in carbohydrate, there will be a decrease in glycogen stored in the muscle and liver. As glycogen need water to be stored, when these glycogen stores are decreased, water will also be depleted accordingly. Which explains why the initial weight loss may not necessarily be "fat" - The numbers that shift also depends on the amount of muscle one carries. The more muscle mass the greater the changes on the scale tend to be - Conversely, when participating in a carbohydrate re-feed the scale may climb, and it is not "fat", just once again the glycogen storage changing and the water changing accordingly - This is why, whilst the scale is a form of measurement it does not always tell the true story.
