Delete. Unfollow. Let go. Today. Tonight. Right now. Friends, I love social media, it heightens my connection to close family and friends that I have all over the world by constant stream of photos and words and it’s allowed me to make connections and real life friendships with some of the most genuine humans on this earth that I wouldn’t know if social media didn’t exist. For that I am grateful. But I feel like God has been placing social media/internet, as a whole, on my heart lately; and heavily. Y’all social media shouldn’t be where we compare, where we spend all our time, where we think the grass is greener on her side or his side or their side. I always hear that social media is a problem, that social media has caused anxiety, that social media is not good. But y’all honestly, I think we are the problem and I say that humbly. We have caused our social media addictions. We have heightened our anxiety. We choose internet and social media over our real lives and are very real moments. I don’t know about you but I need to unfollow, delete, let go. I was fortunate enough to not be raised with a computer or phone until I was well into high school. I lived a very present childhood. I stared out windows and watched sunsets and played in mud and rode horses and sat in my own boredom. I dreamed. I did. I played. And y’all because of this want for a personal heart change with this internet we are afforded and the social media given to us; I want to help raise up a community of people who want to create phone boundaries and social media boundaries, who want to choose phone calls instead of text messages all the time. I want to hear about how you sat in your hallway and just clearly listened to the laughter in your home. I want to hear about how you got up and took your dog on a walk without your phone and you noticed the way the wind felt on your skin. I want to hear about how your favorite colors are sprinkled and dancing throughout the
What's up Thursday! What do you have on your priorities list today? I'm doing some client work this morning and then dedicating several hours just to CLEARING. STUFF. OUT. 🙌🏻 Old computer files, unnecessary pieces of paper, it's all being condensed and recycled to refresh my desk and my mind 💪🏻 Let's do this!
Morning everyone! It's the #tribeboss instagram takeover 😁 I’m Rachael Field, Birmingham Tribe Boss, Marketing Strategist and Founder of @eva_and_alma . We launched the Birmingham GTG in June at the beautiful @saintpaulshouse in the @jewelleryquarter . I am absolutely loving being a Tribe boss and am overwhelmed by the amount of #fiercefemales who have joined the tribe so far. Each woman I have had the pleasure of meeting has inspired me more than they know and i’m looking forward to continuing to get to know and collaborate with our members. _____________________________ I used to have a wonderful marketing job, working with some of the Worlds Biggest Brands. Due to a massive life change 7 years ago, the 9-5 could not support my need for flexibility so I set up as a self employed strategic marketing consultant, working with local small businesses to develop smart brands and marketing plans. I have been fully booked since then and I have never looked back. You just cannot put a price on freedom. I’m eternally grateful for my time in the World of big brand marketing, but I am so much happier being my own boss and working in my own way. ______________________________ So why am I launching Eva & Alma? Well, over the past 7 years I’ve had to deal with quite significant health challenges and am now juggling various #chronicillness. I have been on a HUGE healing journey and have learnt that the most important thing we can do is ensure #selfcare is a priority (all of us) and striking a balance between the mind, body and soul is the key to optimum health. I have definitely been ‘called’ to do this work so I am trusting and following my soul to bring my sacred self care wisdom into the world for everyone. So far, it’s been amazing - particularly my calling to work as a Soul Midwife. I feel so blessed to have been given the gift of emotionally, holistically & spiritually supporting someone through their end of life journey. We all have a
Time to get my work head back on today. I'm @artinthepen in Thirsk this weekend, so it's a day of final preparations (subtext: frantic last minute making!!) and packing everything in the car ready for setting up tomorrow. How's your Thursday shaping up?
When I saw this photo the first time, I quickly dismissed it as not Instagram worthy. But something uncomfortable kept drawing me back to it. . I realise the truth was, I had judged it as not me-worthy. I was embarrassed by the ageing mannish hands and garish bulging veins. . So I wrote it off as inconsequential. . But, by doing so, I allowed myself to diminish the light within. Not a lot. Just a tiny bit. . But the Mother in me sat me down as mothers do. Silently. Lovingly. . Kindly, she kept pointing to this. Because she knows... what light I do have, I have fought hard to find and worked even harder to reclaim. She was not willing to allow me to let any of it go. For my sake. My children’s sake. And the children they may have. And all the nameless souls I will never meet but whose life will already be determined by this singular choice. . So I sat with this moment. . I sat with these feelings and gently held this space for myself. I sat with the hurt and heard what it was trying to tell me. Truly heard. . And gradually I dusted off the lens that clouded this beautiful moment. . I found gratitude for these hands that have laboured and toiled. Gratitude for these hands that allow me to use my work as a means of a moving meditation to express myself. Gratitude for these hands that have enabled me to care for the people in my life. Gratitude for these hands that have made it possible to learn how to handstand at 40. . Thank you @jencarrington_ for sharing your “Conversations With Myself” and the heartfelt reminders that healing happens in unexpected moments. 🕯 . . . . . . . @creativelysquared @foxandfallow #cs_dreamsandgoals . #livemoremagic#startwithwhy#theartofslowliving#livethelittlethings#thehappynow#flashesofdelight#doitfortheprocess#makersgonnamake#communityovercompetition#postitfortheaesthetic#creativepreneur#risingtide#dontquityourdaydream#handsandhustle#nothingisordinary#pursuepretty#calledtobecreative#creativityfound
I was attempting to tidy my workspace today and I came across all these books in one of the drawers. I decided to photograph them all together, inspired by a post @yummikeys did this week (check out her awesome inventive teething products) showing the incredible design process that took her product from idea to reality. They are just some of the prototypes I made when I started designing my books. It made me laugh out loud to see all the skipped stitches and wonky lines (I never know if I should admit it or not, but I basically taught myself to sew when I started this company.) I knew exactly what I wanted to make, how I wanted it to look, function and feel and I stubbornly persevered until my vision was a reality. I watched Youtube videos, studied books, spoke to people who could actually sew (thanks Nan.) I played around with different fabrics, designs, patterns, binding techniques before I was happy and finally got to my ''perfect" version. Its such a tangible reminder of the journey I've been on. Its so easy to get swept up in your huge to-do list and the things you still have to accomplish that you forget how far you've actually come. Looking at some of these versions, thankfully I’ve come a LONG way!! I know I can't be the only one?! So I thought I'd challenge some other small business owners to dust off their imperfect firsts (if you can find them) and proudly share them with Insta!!! 🙌 Anyone else fancy taking part tag me if you do - I'd love to see them!!! 😘 #whereitallbegan . . . #creativelife#creativelifehappylife#communityovercompetition#raiseeachotherup#itsintheprocess#prototype#fromhumblebeginnings#smallbusiness#tinystarts#fabricbooks#mynamebook#pipandcherry#babybooks#independentmaker#independentbusiness#mysmallbusiness#lovewhatyoudo
