My mom makes the best Tofu Nway (Burmese Shan Tofu) in the world and so it is my responsibility as a food photographer to take the best photo of the food she made! As the name suggests, Tofu Nway (Burmese Shan Tofu) originated from Shan. Tofu Nway can be eaten with noodle (San See or Yay Sein), E Kyar Kway or bread (Baba). The main ingredients are water, chickpea flour and turmeric. Though the ingredients that are used to make the dish is not much, the process is strenuous and time-consuming. Countless people DMed me for the recipe and I’m so sorry but I don’t think I will be able to write it for you because there are countless steps that are required and my mom did it the traditional way so she doesn’t know the exact ratio of the chickpea flour to the water either (which is very very important). If the ratio is wrong or the steps are given incorrectly, it will result in Chickpea soup instead of Tofu Nway.
