Day 1 of eating according to #21dayfix is in the books and I’ve got a few 🔑 takeaways: 1️⃣ don’t leave your entire meal prep for the day in the fridge. Improvising from the work caf is possible, but there’s a reason i pack breakfast, lunch, and snacks the night before: it’s one less thing i have to actively think about throughout the day. 2️⃣ the app makes it super easy to track where you are throughout the day and check which foods are in which category... BUT you might have to adjust your container counts for a vegan or vegetarian diet, and know ahead of time of any vegan foods that get to count as protein on a special plan (e.g., legumes like lentils and chickpeas) 3️⃣ eating designated “proteins” is still a struggle, but @hempeplantprotein on my dinner last night cooked with s&p, paprika, a dash @traderjoes taco and everything but the bagel seasoning was delightful. 4️⃣ when in doubt, add hot sauce. • What’s on my plate: sautéed kale in avo oil spray with s&p and paprika, roasted Brussels (meal-prepped in advance), @traderjoes ready to eat lentils, @hempeplantprotein, @traderjoes goddess dressing, @heatandflavor hot sauce 🔥, and the last of my @lantanafoods green chili hummus.

I grew up in a family who believed if it were too hard, just give up. I’m not sure why we had that mentality, but I gave up on everything. When the going got tough, I got going. This led to many “failures” in my life. I would start something, merely to get to a certain point, the point where the fun stopped, and the hard work began, and stop and quit. In the area of living a healthier life, I’ve been able to workout and eat a clean diet for over 4 years now. The first thing I’ve ever done for myself that I have not quit. This realization has floored me. 4 years! 4 years of eating nothing but chicken and sweet potatoes, elk meat (yes, my friend, elk meat) and brown rice! And I’ve kept it up. I haven’t quit. The confidence that has come from not quitting a bodybuilding lifestyle has provided for me proof of concept. Proof that: I am capable of accomplishing. Even great things. What started out as just a trip to the gym and a change in eating patterns, has now become a peg in the board. A symbol. I’ve crushed that goal. And I've maintained that new standard. What other goals in life can I crush? Crunchy chickpeas with curry is so delicious and watercress drizzle with lemon juice is so refreshing. Don’t forget about chilli flakes. They make this salad just a little bit spicy.
