In the middle of Chanterelle Mushroom season! Come get some tonight at Nokomis Farmers Market 4-8pm! 52nd and Chicago Ave. Minneapolis
Memories of a wonderful trip to Mexico. #mexico #axapusco #hacienda #haciendasanmiguelometusco countryside #orchard #field #forage #cattlebreeding #corral #countrysidelife #haciendalife #beautiful #beautifuldestinations #picoftheday #travel #travelphotography .

Ok guys, so you know how in winter I persistantly moaned about the wet weather and wanted it dry? Well, we eventually got it dry. And hot. Baking hot. And hardly any rain. And for a while it was lovely. But then it got hotter. So hot my paddock is now concrete hard. The grass is scortched and not growing. What rain we have had has hardly touched it. This is not good. I have a horse to feed. Horses (amongst other things) eat grass. Lots and lots and lots of grass. If it doesn't rain soon I will have no grass to feed now, let alone into winter when the grass really stops growing. So I'm going to ask you all a favour. Please, please, please will y'all do a raindance for me? Well, not for me but for my poor starved Ponyface. Please dance as hard as you can and for as long as you can as things are getting desperate and starvation is not an option. Let's get this paddock looking lush and green again and full of lovely, lovely grass to fill my boys tummy. If you can do this we will be eternally grateful. Thank you all, Hapless & Ponyface #paddock#grass#wheresmyrainat#raindance#boogieyourbuttoff#drastictimescallfordrasticmeasures#starvationisnotanoption#feedme#forage#feedinghay#equine#equestrian#equineproblems#britishweather#lifewithhorses#countrygirl#farmlife#farming#horse#horses#horsesofinstagram#equestriansofinstagram#horseownersofinstagram

This what I'd call super hyper local, to borrow a phrase from one of my students. Backyard mulberries and apricot sauce from a pick in the six. #fruitfulcity #forage #urbanharvest #fruit
I found the prettiest dried moth this weekend on the ground near the river. (Swipe left to see) Isn't she a beauty? Her pattern is a work of art, which inspired my watercolor. Any other dried bug collectors amongst us? Surely it's not just me 🤓👋
Queen Anne's Lace. Perfect parasols shading the baked hard ground all along the field edges and footpaths. Flowers for high summer.
Hey, I’ve been thinking on an IG story I saw a few weeks back and wanted to share some of my thoughts. It was more or less of a beautiful women’s hand, holding a perfect half of a clementine, with a butterfly that had landed on it with the words . . “live food = live body dead food = dead body” . . Woah... that’s quite a statement. And an easy mindset to agree with when you’re on the lookout for a new practice for getting “into shape”. Keep in mind this woman has a around 25k followers, many of whom may be following to get inspiration about a vegan lifestyle and vegan children. . But why? Why should it be a goal to not consume something that was once living itself? It’s also a fallacy to think that by eating “fresh” “living” foods that other organisms are not dying as an effect of those farming or cultivating practices. It is true that many people who practice a #vegan lifestyle also see worth in supporting small, local, organic farms and eat things in season and I’m very glad to see that. In my honest opinion, I see times in ones life where veganism, if done a certain way, could be beneficial for some period of time. I have done it myself. But to me, raw food veganism like this person was referring to, is unsustainable and straight up unhealthy for so many people in the world. To spread the message that people to drop what they’re doing and strive to eat only raw “alive” vegan foods could be dangerous to many, but to make the statement that “dead” food will cause your body to become unhealthy, sub par, “dead” - now that’s just completely untrue. There’s no way that monocropped Romain lettuce gives a human body more nutrition and is better for the environment than a freshly harvested venison liver, and unfortunately many vegan items are grown mono-cropped. . . This is all just my personal opinion, backed by knowledge of how humans have evolved over millennia (it sure wasn’t vegan) and a desire to nourish my body with
