Next on the to-do list is finalizing the planting scheme for the second border of the Mary garden. We wanted the hornbeam hedge to settle a bit so we could decide how to plant the new section. 🌳 We will stick with the white, green and silver foliage color scheme used in the matching border. 🌿 How on earth can it be mid August and we still have exposed soil and no plants in the ground?🤦♀️ Is the summer flying by for you guys too?
It’s that time of year when you start to harvest the last of the things. It is both lovely and a little sad. Today it’s time to pack the herbs in order to dry another round, start drying sunflowers and harvest another set of potatoes. My tomatoes are struggling but still putting out a couple a week. I will be pulling out some old vines and clearing spaces to fertilize & plot whether or not to try another round of plants. I miss them already. 😞 This year had definitely been the most work I have put in but it also yielded the highest return. I can say I am a fan of the food forest style of planting and will be working towards more of that for next year. I appreciate the massive savings on my grocery budget!
