When I say research 🗣I mean research! Go all in. . When preparing for an interview find out as much as you can not only about the company and position but also the interviewers, the environment, the culture, etc. . Below are a few tips to go deeper in your interview prep. . Social Media - Use SM & Google to research the interviewers. Ask the recruiter or your point of contact the names of those conducting the interview. Review their SM accounts to gain insight into who they are, their background, etc. It may feel stalker-ish, but hey they probably already did it to you. 🤷🏾♀️ Just don't double tap! 😞 You may find something you have in common that you can weave into the conversation. This can make the interviewer connect with you & help you stand out in a sea of candidates. . . Company Reviews - Go to sites like Glassdoor or job boards to read reviews from current & previous employees. My favorite site is Indeed. You can gain a ton of feedback about the company, leadership, interview process, salaries, & environment to help you prepare and gauge if its really the right fit for you. You will see trends, good or bad. . Internet Search - Search the company, position title, & department you're interviewing for to see what comes up with regard to news, updates, etc. You would be surprised at how much you find out that sometimes the interviewers aren't even aware of. . Bottom line, go deeper than the surface level company website scan when preparing for your interview. Information is power so arm yourself with it and nail your next interview! . Storytime... . . . Back in 2013 I was in a job that was no longer serving me, my talents, or my family. Coincidentally, I arrived at the conclusion my relaxed hair was also no longer serving me...enter my Frederick Douglas Afro. . . . Every time I got a call for an interview I hurried to the salon to have my God given curls straightened...surely I could not land a job if I interviewed with my hair in the state from which it grew from my head 🤷🏽♀️. . . . I get a call from my now employer to come in the next day to interview for a job I reeeeaallllyyy wanted. But a next day interview meant no time to visit the salon. Distraught I called my mom who literally gave me advice that changed how I saw myself and my hair when it came to work...” Ashley, she said, if they have a problem with your hair, they have a problem with you.” . . . The next day, I patted my ‘fro twice, sashayed my behind in that interview, nailed it, negotiated and 5 years later vested in a pension and transitioned into a role I love without compromising who I was. . . . Don’t you let anyone tell you that any part of you needs to be different in order to be worthy of an opportunity. If they cannot accept 100% of you, then they are not worthy of you or your talents. 👌🏾💯 ✌🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . . . #career#careercoach#gethired#getpaid#hired#paid#naturallyme#interviewcoach#interview#salary#salarynegotiation#ask4more#seatatthetable#noceilings#thrive#liveyourbestlife#authenticity#courage#confidence#worthy#qualified#howdoesshedoit#greatnessawaits#mommymoves#moneymoves#dallas#mckinney#frisco#plano
