JOSIAH 💛 Happy Monday from our #goldenhero Josiah! A 7 year old from Laurel, MD who we were honored to meet @curefestusa 🎗 Diagnosis: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) • “Josiah was diagnosed with ALL in December 2016,” his mother shared with us, “After about 6 months of being in and out of the doctors office, because of constant fevers and body aches. At one point he would cry when we tried to pick him up. We went for a blood test on a Friday and that night we were told to immediately come back to the hospital. Josiah was 5 at the time, had so much energy and innocence, so when he began treatment it was heart breaking. To sum up his journey it has been like a roller coaster ride. He has taught us so much, now life with cancer/treatment is the new normal for him.” We loved meeting Josiah and his family, as we rallied together in D.C. to “knock out” childhood cancer! Just check out ↔️ those hooks 🥊 #killcancerwkindness#withlovecharity#gogold#childhoodcancerawarenessmonth#childhoodcancerawareness#givehope#lovebold#noonefightsalone#fightcancer

Samson Seghren is dedicating his birthday to bring the spotlight on this social injustice: Illiteracy in Africa One of the simplest and wide spread definition of illiteracy is; the inability to read and write. Recent reports on the literacy level in sub Saharan Africa by African Library Project suggests that more than 1 in 3 adults in sub saharan africa cannot read, 182 million adults are unable to read and write, 48 million youths (ages 15-24) are illiterates. Comparing these statistic to the status quo 10 years ago shows a great deal of improvement, it shows that more Africans adults are now able to read and write than was obtainable few years back, this in it self is a laudable feat. However, same cannot be said of our development in other areas of endeavour such as economy, politics and security, we seem to be at the same point, if not retrogressing. The economy of quite a number of African States seems to be failing, they keep electing and reelection old and unfit leaders, and the security situation can be best described as alarming. One can easily conclude that the problem has never been illiteracy but the inability to engage in critical thinking and the absence of innovative ideas, it will be imperative that subsequently, we not only border ourselves with the illiteracy level but we also make concerted effort to encourage critical thinking and innovation amongst African youths, teens and adults. #hfucharity#bechange#bringhope#givehope#hope#charity#africa#sfg#hfucares#illiteracy#illiterate#teach#help#readingsupport
