Do you feel nervous about training or exercising in a gym? -  It's natural to feel uncomfortable in an environment you're not used to. -  But to achieve body composition results it's more than likely that those nerves will need to go so you can train regularly and with focus. -  Over time those nerves will disappear. But often starting is the hardest part. -  Never underestimate the power of having someone by yourself through the journey. It can be a very powerful tool to possess. -  Ideally, when training, you need complete focus on your self and the task at hand, exercise execution. When feeling nervous that can become less of a priority, understandably. -  Have someone there, or other processes in place, to change this, to slowly wash away the nerves and let complete focus be on your training and yourself. -  Who's your shield? -  #anxiety #nervous #confidence #personaltrainer #carlisle

Glad I got that out of the way early 😅 • That in mind, in this current fat loss / cutting phase that I'm in, this is pretty much what a typical workout of mine looks like. • It's not some "low weight, high rep" bullsquat 💩 • I doubt I'd be able to maintain much muscle, and certainly wouldn't hold onto much strength, using that approach 😒 • Personally, I always start off with a quick walking-on-the-treadmill warm-up if I have time, followed by some static & dynamic stretching. Foam rolling any tight muscles is never a bad idea, either 🔑 • I then move onto a major compound movement—typically either flat bench, incline dumbbell press, or standing overhead barbell press for push day, squats or leg press for leg day, and weighted pull-ups or barbell rows for pull day. • After that, I'll do between 4 and 6 different exercises to hit all the muscle groups I planned to hit that day, some compound and some more isolation-y 😬 • Finally, I'll finish up with some cardio if I feel like burning some extra calories and maybe eating a bit more flexibly later in the day 😎 • My workouts really aren't too complex, and they're definitely not my main tool in my shredding "toolbox" 🔨 • BUT, I absolutely love doing them, and they certainly do help with making & maintaining progress. • Not every workout is made equal—different people tend to have different approaches. TAKING BREAKS😌 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, I haven't posted at all recently and that's for a number of reasons. But mainly because I've took a break from my normal routine😱 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For the past couple of weeks I've trained only if I've wanted to, I've ate everything I've wanted to and not really bothered tracking🍕 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've focused on myself, my relationship, my friends and family and my other passion: music❤ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤓I've been learning and studying for my PT qualifications and CPD's and genuinely enjoying doing what my mind and body wants. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A lot of people in the fitness industry love to push the whole "24/7 grind" shit at you and I think that mentality can be extremely detrimental to a lot of people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I work hard. I give 100% to whatever I'm doing but I'm human and I also love to have lazy days and spend time away from a gym eating my weight in chocolate and cereal and sugar and pizza👀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm getting back to my routine today because it's what I WANT to do, not because I feel pressured to do hours of cardio to burn off the 5 million bags of peanut m&ms I've consumed this week😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also seems like all the extra calories went to today's glute pump, I'll take that🍑🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I recently read this fantastic article by @sahibkareer that had some really valid points regarding why using FREE WEIGHTS... • 👉🏼 or, more specifically, any resistance training that is done in 3 dimensions (think lat pulldowns, incline dumbbell press, or even push-ups)... • Is generally more effective than resistance training with machines 😲 • The main idea is this👉🏼 training a muscle correctly, using either method, will improve its structure (allow it to gain mass/grow) 👍🏼 • BUT, without a predetermined, strict path of motion, such as the ones provided by machine exercises, there's an added stability component ⚖️ • Stabilizer muscles are forced to take action in this additional dimension, and you're now working not only to contract a muscle, but to perform an entire movement, and to do so while maintaining safe and effective form 🙌🏼 • This factor is crucial—especially for athletes—but really for anyone looking to optimize their efficiency in the movements they perform every day 🤓 • Incorporating machines into your workouts is a great idea, especially for isolating any lagging muscles, but free weight training kinda just makes more sense as your main focus 🙏🏻 #freeweights #machines #dumbbells #bodyweight #exercises #gymhelp #gymtips #weights #liftweights #strength #hypertrophy #buildmuscle #losefat #fatloss #musclegain #fitfam #muscle #workout #gym #fitnessjourney #fitnessaddict #weightlifting #weightloss #strong #strenght
