If you have tension in these muscles, learn how to do a lower dantien breath. it is a slow soft breath, making no sound breathing in through the nose into the stomach. This breath can easily stimulate the vagus nerve and that causes your parasympathetic nervous system to instantly relax the body. releasing tension in muscles and fascia. Once you can do this move the breath up to upper dantien, so you can feel a hear the breath inside your head. Like a ear popping sound that happens when you change altitude in an airplane. if you do it right it is likely to make you feel like yawning this amplifies the relaxation in the neck and head muscles. Some of these like the scm are known for causing headaches. if you want more instruction contact me, I'm happy to show you.
This is one of my favourite stretches. Fold slowly from the lumbar on the exhale and let your body open up with breath, dont force it. It feels so good to hang there. if you have really tight hamstrings, only go to where you feel a resistance, hold the inhale until you feel your awareness and breath in your hanmstring and exhale to release using the weight of your upper body to stretch them. practice everyday and dont pull head to knee until you can touch the ground. tightness in the hamstrings and lumbar block chi flow up the body. #depression#tension#fatigue#stress#stretches#flexibility
