Something about this place felt so otherworldly. 👽
“The Forgotten Coast” Unforgettable,,undeniable natural splendor in my return to wild Florida, the fragile wildlife corridor stretch of the panhandle properly named Florida’s Forgotten Coast. Of great ecological importance and the standing ground nourishing the life of endangered animal and plant species, it is the ancestral home of Gulf of Mexico and the life which is prominent on this rare habitat where time seems to stand still. I had a few days to get immersed in the coastal milky and briny marshlands, estuaries, pined-canopies, rolling dunes, and nutrient-rich waters, all home to healthy populations of sea life and flourishing in abundance with mollusks, oysters as a result of the flow of waters. I was pulled into the flat as glass milky blue-grey colored water, thigh-high, and then water eventually hugged my hips and waistline only to become more intimate with the skeletal beauty and decay of broken docks weathered by time. Here is where time seems to stand still. Here, one can begin to immerse oneself into the shallow blue-grey waters of the Apalachicola Bay, where the horizon tricks the eye as it seemingly has a dusky pull that goes on forever. I was pulled in to the shallow basins recognized as one of the most unique estuaries by the United Nations. I spent days in the surround with sun and rain showered-filled skies, lost in an American wilderness ever-present among oystermen tonging in the utter seclusion of “The Forgotten Coast”. ————- Nikon D850, Nikon 12-24 mm ultra-wide angle lens, Feisol Tripod, Lee Big Stopper SW 150 Filter, Lee Polarizer. #landscape_prime #keepflwild #instagram_florida #naturalnorthflorida #lovefl #longexposure_shots #looongexposure #longexpo #amazing_longexpo #ic_longexpo #long_exposure_pics #longexosurephotography #bigstopper #slowshutter #longexposure_photo #artofvisuals #beautifuldestinations #earthpix discoverflorida #landscape_lovers #bestofflorida #lovefl #nikon #leebigstopper #visitflorida

Photo by @CarltonWard | Path of the Panther >>>> The reason I am focusing on the Florida panther for my current storytelling project with @NatGeo is that protecting the land needed for the wide-ranging panther will protect millions of acres of habitat for thousands of other species that depend on the panther’s domain. Not to mention saving Florida rangelands, timberlands, groves and the headwaters of the Everglades from development. As rancher Cary Lightsey told me, “the panther is going to have to help us save Florida.” A male panther has a home range of 200 square miles — four time larger than the city of Miami but approximately the same amount of wildlife habitat lost to development in Florida each year. This camera trap at Babcock Ranch shows a few of the species relying on the “Path of the Panther.” Swipe for 3 more photos following this adult male panther: white-tailed deer, Osceola turkey and raccoon, all captured on the same trail during a couple weeks in January. Please share this story to help inspire the protection of the #floridawildlifecorridor. @fl_wildcorridor #pathofthepanther #floridawild #keepflwild #panther #deer #turkey #raccoon #corridor
