Despite what the latest "keto coach" sold and told you, foods are not inherently keto and non-keto.  Ketosis is a metabolic state reached when your body runs out of excess glycogen stores and then starts burning fat for fuel.  If you keep your carbohydrates under 20g per day, you are essentially ensuring that your body isn't storing glycogen and stays in a state of ketosis.  Whether that 20g comes from a big ass salad, a small portion of sweet potatoes, or a coffee with a bit of added sugar, your body will still maintain a state of ketosis.  Now, that's not to say that this is the best way to follow Keto. You'll quickly ask yourself... "Hey... Is it worth blowing my daily carb allotment on this...?" Sometimes it totally is.  That negligible amount of sugar in your bacon (the package even says 0g carbs) is not going to kick you out of ketosis. That trace amount of potato starch in your shredded cheese is not going to kick you of ketosis. The wheat flour in your salad dressing isn't going to kick you out of ketosis. Is it annoying that they're there and it cuts into your daily carb allotment? Yep, sure is. But you can still maintain a state of ketosis just fine with them.  There's a lot of pretentious dogma that often comes with Keto. It's like, if you aren't eating 100% totally clean and perfect, you're wasting your time or following everything wrong. That's not the case. We all come from different walks of life... with different food options... and different food budgets.  Make it work for you. It doesn't have to be perfect. Over time, you'll discover ways to optimize and make it work best for you.  Careful with some of those coaches too. Don't get sucked into the pyramid scheme that is exogenous ketones.  Your body can make ketones all on its own.  Sorry, but if your "business" is made by captilizing on newbies and the naive, shame on
So my husband and I were messing around in Walmart and I thought it would be fun to feel the amount of weight I’ve lost. These giant dog food bags are 3 lbs more than I’ve lost in the last 8 months!!! As I’m struggling to hold these for the photo it makes me realize why I feel so incredible. A weight has literally been lifted off of me. I get people asking me a lot how to stick with it and not give up and this is exactly why I haven’t given up!! Mince lamb and spinach bread, that's what I'm calling it anyway. It's just a mixture of lamb mince, spinach and herbs and spices all wrapped up in fat head dough. -------- I was going to make little parcels of the mixture but I find it really hard to roll out fat head dough thin enough, anyone have any tips?  #fatheaddough
Week 2 of Keto complete. Well, its been 14 days now and I haven’t cheated a single time. This weekend was extremely hard, we went camping for a couple days and I love eating junk food camping. It use to be one of the things I loved about camping, eating all of my favorite food. Not only did I feel like I could eat the world but watching all of my kids eat delicious snack food, gummy bears, swiss rolls, suckers, tootsie rolls, ect. was really difficult. I ate a couple things I hadn’t eaten while on Keto, low carb tortilla, sugar free jello, sugar free snack pack and some sugar free candy I bought at the marina so I wouldn’t eat the gummy bears we brought for the kids. The past 4 days have absolutely been the hardest days I’ve had on Keto. But I’m happy to say I didn’t cheat, haven’t cheated and won’t cheat because of a weak moment, we are all stronger than that. WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE A SLAVE TO SUGAR AND CARBS! There will be a day when I cheat but that day wont be for a long time and it will be because I actually want to cheat not because of weakness. Maybe for my birthday at the end of August, maybe by then I wont want to cheat, I dont know. What I do know is that I can do this and everyone else that wants to, can do this too! Do it with me, I’ve lived off of sugar and carbs my entire life and I’m doing this. I feel sooo much better after only 2 weeks and I don’t even think that I’ve started to feel or see the biggest benefits from living a Keto lifestyle. Thanks to everyone who is following my journey and helping to motivate me to keep pushing forward, seriously I couldn’t do it without all of you! Thank you!
