This time last year I put a picture like this on my vision board. Last weekend I lived out that goal 👍🏼 . That feeling of realising that dreams do come true is a truely warming feeling. . I’ve come to realise that I currently seem to do better in life when I have a goal set, can work towards this and succeed at it. . I’ve also come to realise that I’m still learning how to live without vision, goals or direction and just be in the moment. It tests your fear of vulnerability that you’re not doing anything or achieving anything. . This year I would love to focus on being present and enjoying these moments and not getting caught up in always having to tick something off. . Don’t get me wrong there will be little underlying goals and visions but I will focus on working on them quietly on my 2018 vision board. . Whatever you decide to set yourself to this year I wish you all the happiness enjoying the journey to achieving them or just being. I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this or what you may have in store for 2018 (I could be your accountability partner too 😊).
My go to recipe for Chia Puddings❤️👇🏼 . 1/2 cup coconut cream 1/2 cup of almond milk 2 heaped tablespoons of chia seeds 1 heaped tablespoon desiccated coconut Dash of vanilla essence . I sometimes add a tablespoon of cacao powder or @nuzest protein powder. . Set in the fridge in a covered jar/container for a day or two until it becomes harder and chia seeds expand. . Top with berries, banana, peanut butter, nuts, seeds etc (whatever you feel like). . Such a satisfying and nourishing dish with a good source of protein, fats and fibre.
I could have stopped but I decided to keep going💪🏼 . Whatever you’re going through you’re stronger than you think and there is always a chance to start again. You may not know or be able to control what is around the corner but you’re so capable to what the universe throws at you👊🏼
Double tap if you love a one pan dish 👆🏼 🙌🏼 Last nights rustle up was chicken breast, haloumi, red onion, garlic, mix of tomatoes w EVOO (sides were roasted broccoli & creamy polenta mash) 😋 thanks to my sous chefs feedback, next time I’ll add a bit of pesto and fresh basil leaves to complete it 👩🏼🍳 #workwithwhatyouvegot#experimentalhealthychef
Some words of wisdom from @cliffdoggydog around my migraines was to try out @melrosehealth MCT Oil. . The idea being here that increasing ketones in the body has been shown to reduce migraines and intensity. . So what is MCT Oil? 🌴 . MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglycerides. They are a form of fat that is digested differently than LCT (long chain triglycerides) or SCT (short chain triglycerides). They’re unique because short chain and long chain triglycerides are metabolised in the digestive system. MCT’s are metabolised in the liver for faster, cleaner conversion to energy or ketones. . Increasing MCT’s in your diet has been shown to; eliminate brain fog, aide with weight loss, ketosis & skin & gut health. . Get yours via @nutritionstoreonline 👌🏼 . In addition to the original post & another good reason to purchase @melrosehealth MCT Oil is that it comes in glass. This is great when wanting to avoid consuming from plastics. I have also noticed the difference in taste of MCT Oil between plastic & glass 👍🏼
| Day 80 of the 90 Day Thyroid Rehab Challenge | 🍊Yesterday, Anthony William @medicalmedium posted a delicious-sounding smoothie recipe on his Instagram - the Orange Creamsicle Smoothie 🍊. After a busy day at work today, and a congested commute home, nothing sounded more refreshing than whipping this recipe together to sip on out on the back patio in the early evening sunshine ☀️. It did not disappoint - a real treat! 😋 • MM ORANGE CREAMSICLE SMOOTHIE RECIPE 2 frozen bananas 🍌 1 fresh banana 🍌 3 whole chopped oranges (peel and seeds removed) 🍊 1-2 cups coconut water 🥥💦 Seeds from 1/4 vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract In a high-speed blender, add the coconut water and chopped oranges and blend until smooth. Then add the remaining ingredients and blend again until very smooth and creamy (Tip: the frozen bananas are what gives this drink it’s frothy, creamy texture). Makes approximately two 24oz servings. Serve right away - cheers! 🥤✨
We are well into 2018 now. Did you set yourself a health goal this year? What’s your WHY for doing so? . Have you ever really thought about the underlying reasons WHY you decided to take on a health goal? . What is health and what does it mean for you? In this broad term ‘health’ your main driver to achieving your goal should be this, health. . I encourage you to move away from the motivation to be a certain number or look and into lifelong sustainable achievements, like being in awesome health from the age of birth to retirement and beyond. . Your focus should be on the bigger picture not for example did I lose weight today or not. . Make sure you ask yourself about your WHY 3-5 times until you get to the crux of it all; 1. Why are you here? Because of my body fat. 2. Why your body fat? Because of my heart. 3. Why do you want to do that? My doctor said I need to watch my heart. 4. What does having a healthy heart mean to you? So I can run around with my kids and not have a heart attack. . Or setting goals like, “I used to be skinnier and I want to be like that” or “I don’t like how I look anymore I want to look like her/him.” Ask yourself when you reach that goal of being skinnier or getting to a certain look, what will that mean and what do you want to do then? . Your thoughts? . P.s. To my clients, who I haven’t spoke to, I have moved back to the big smoke until the end of June. I’m still here for you if you need ✌🏼
Food is... . ...to me it means ‘nourishment’. Over the past 8 or so years I have learnt the importance of tuning into my body in what it is truely craving. I have also learnt that food is a powerful tool for healing from the inside out. . I have only ever been on a couple of ‘diets’ that have failed miserably. E.g. the lemon and maple syrup detox diet (what was I thinking?!...a quick fix before a Europe trip). . I’ve fortunately never tried to lose weight consciously but more so tried to figure out what foods serve me best (this has taken sometime but I am finally in a great space to also not be emotionally driven by food). . Until recently all medical professionals that I have seen have never talked about food choices for ‘nourishment’. I would love to see this change (Dr Steve Joe, in New Zealand, is amazing to see)! . As @drlibby mentioned (in calorie fallacy), “How you eat reflects how you live”...I know that I want to feel nourished when I eat 👌🏼 . What does food mean to you? Thanks for the continuing inspo @drlibby. (Food is...? Is a sentence Dr Libby asks her clients to finish to help get to the bottom of their driving reasons behind their food choices). . Cauliflower Pizza from @juliaandlibby 😋
Saturday night in creating a dish with some of my favourite flavours 😋 sesame & peanut crusted salmon on a bed of edamame fettuccine drizzled with tamari sauce (accompanied with extra edamame beans, seaweed, spinach & tomatoes) 👌🏼 omega and green goodness 🌱 in the past I would have paired this with a glass of red wine...not tonight, tonight I had another fave @remedydrinks kombucha 👍🏼 what’s on your plate this evening?
Hey y’all!! It was truly an delight to chat with @drkaseyjohnson and share my story. Being vulnerable in the public is definitely hard for me, but I know that so many people are struggling with chronic illnesses. Hopefully, they will hear this and be encouraged that things can get better. #nevergiveup#motivation
