I 💚 you Humboldt County! #ferncanyon #northcoastca #happiness
4/16 #californiawild #sponsored post • I think our group saw and did more things during our short time in the #northcoastca than I could explain or talk about in a month. So sharing this photo of the view from Point Arena Lighthouse is sharing only a fraction of what there is to do in this amazing region characterized by stunning coastline, soaring Redwoods, locally-sourced food, rugged landscapes, glass beaches, fog-blanketed towns, lighthouses of all shapes and sizes as well as characters you instantly want to be friends with for life! • I hope you've checked out posts from my colleagues @ottsworld, @borderfreetravels & @stuffedsuitcase to see more? • You can also follow our awesome local guide/driver/new BFF @kellyenglish78. Kelly is a true Californian with roots here that pre-date the gold rush! • But about this Lighthouse I was standing in when I took this photo: it's the tallest you can climb to the top of on the West Coast and my goodness is the view ever awesome. From this high up, I could see grey whales breaching off shore and in the distance the Stornetta Public Lands where we experienced a thrilling tour with Margaret of @ourunbeatenpath (highly recommend this!) and I felt like I could see all the way to the marvelous Mar Vista Cottages where we spent our last night and morning in the North Coast, where I highly recommend you stay if you visit this region. I couldn't see all the way to the town of Mendocino but I was still thinking of it after we'd had a wonderful lunch there and in this moment I was marveling at just how STUNNING California is, period.... #thisisadventure #fujifilmx_us #fujifilmxt2 #visitcalifornia #pointarena #exploremore #visitmendocino
Oh how sunny weather makes us happy! Goodbye winter💕. Loving my long walks with my D. #trinidadca #brushlettering
There is something so stunning about the north coast this time of year – a raging wild ocean giving way to verdant green hillsides rolling into towering redwoods. It's like living in a storybook!

Just finished up an article about the historical lighthouses of California's North Coast. This is Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City. Timing is everything when it comes to Battery Point Light.  The lighthouse sits on a little rocky outcrop that is only accessible during low tide. Luckily the day I visited, low tide coincided with sunset. Built in 1856 it's a hearty structure having survived the tidal wave of 1964 that flooded the entire peninsula as well as numerous earthquakes. In 1879, a massive wave knocked down the kitchen wall and knocked over a lighted stove. The house would have burned down if it weren't for a second wave that put out the fire! #californiawild
"What a strange world we live in. We trade our days for things instead of moments." One of my favorite places in NorCal to unwind and write. 😁🏍💆🏽‍♂️🌊📝 #motorcyclediaries #gopro #zoomzoom #dontslowmedown #waves #northcoastca
Over the years I’ve seen many coast redwood trees gutted by fire, but this one along the Ten Taypo Trail in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is probably the most dramatic. The fire burned out the entire core of the tree, making the trunk into a sort of chimney flume. Pretty amazing to look up from the inside & see the sky through the hole at the top. Fire in the redwood forests is a normal part of the cycle of life there & healthy ferns and other forest fauna are thriving inside this burned out tree. #redwoodtree #forestfire #forestfireeffects #tentaypotrail #burnedtree #charredremains #prairiecreek #hollowtree #burnedout #guttedbyfire #sequoiasempervirens #coastredwood #prairiecreekredwoodsstatepark #humboldtcounty #insidearedwood #lookupsky #burnedtrees #giantredwoods #hikeinthewoods #natureisresilient #cycleoflife #oldgrowthforest #newgrowth #greeneverywhere #northcoast #northcoastca #redwoodtrees #redwoodtreescalifornia #visitcalifornia #californiabeauty
INSPIRING POTENTIAL Another shot from my trip in Northern California- any guesses what I’m holding? This little seed pod is the starting stage of a giant coastal redwood tree. Quite amazing that something so big and strong can come from something so small. Nature is pretty amazing, makes me want to be amazing too! :) . #californiawild #norcal #redwoods #northcoastca
the redwoods are pretty (insert adjective) dudes and have banded together to form "the woods," sorta this clicky group that honestly doesnt really like humans all that much...not that they do anything about it. . anyways, it's hard to photograph them well, so here is a photograph from the road that im not sure is much good up close, but is pleasant on this size screen. . it was taken along a place the local radio stations refer to as the "north coast." im confused why they call themselves that, as if there is a bit, further north. a lot, actually. . also, someone call california and tell them bigfoot live in washington. definitely not south of the siskiyous. . . . #northcoastca #crescentcityca #prairiecreekredwoods #hwy101 #instafamous? #probablynot
Another wine that got me all juiced up - first time to stumble on a 💯% #counoise, found at @uncorkedsquaw. The wine was beautifully colored and vibrant with fruity brightness and fresh, spicy acidity, simple in the most elegant way! Well done @broccellars, you have made me a fan! . . #broccellars #uncorkedsquaw #uncorkedsquawvalley #squawvalleyvillage #squawvalley #squawvalleyusa #squawvalleytahoe #counoiselove #counoiseismynewfavorite #deepredcellar #eaglepointranch #mendocinocounty #mendocinoava #madeinberkeley #northcoastwine #northcoastca #cawine #tahoevacay #tahoevacation #wineshopfinds #wineshop #winefind #tahoenorth #visittahoe #uncorkedtahoe #moreredplease #oenographic
One of my biggest surprises on California's North Coast were the lighthouses dotted along the coast that have been saved and maintained by the public. There was a short 1/2 mile hike out to this one at Point Cabrillo. And you can even stay over night here at the old lightkeepers cottages! . #californiawild #thisisadventure #lighthouselovers #beautifulplaces #californialove #pointcabrillo #northcoastca

CALIFORNIA COAST I'm absolutely in love with the northern coast of California. I could watch the rugged cliffs and crashing waves for days. Our California adventure took us along the northern coast starting in Crescent City, down through the Redwoods, and into the northern part of Hwy 1. Breathtaking vistas! This pic was snapped in Fort Bragg, but I also fell in love with the wild nature of the Stornetta Lands and Point Arena Lighthouse. . Have you ever visited the rugged coast of California? . #sponsored #californiawild #northcoastca

One of my favorite paths on the North Coast! Fort Bragg, CA is amazing year round and has been a huge stress relief for me since I was a kid! So happy to be spending my birthday here! #lifeisgood #fortbraggca #camping #gayswhocamp #northcoast #northcoastca
3/16 #californiawild #sponsored post • Of all the things we have been scheduled to see in the #northcoastca for this adventure, the Redwoods were # 1 on my list of what I was most excited about. Because I LOVE trees, these ancient giants have always been calling me. Unlike so many things and places that can let you down when they’re overhyped, the Redwoods don’t do that. Instead, I’m told they have made grown men cry and they made me feel more at peace than I have in longer than I can remember. This trip is about bringing you the lesser-visited parts of the state of California, so we focused on Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and Founders Grove in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Both are part of the larger @redwoodnps system which links the National Park and State Parks into one system of stunning tree-filled goodness. Even though we skipped Avenue of the Giants and other parts of this park system that more visitors tend to frequent, we still saw the tallest and the biggest trees in California. We learned that they are so immense, they live in three climatic zones at once. The base of each tree is in one set, the stem of the tree is in another and the crown is in yet another. We also learned that there are Redwoods which have lived for over 1,000 years. The scale and the sheer majesty simply cannot be contained in a photo and photos make it hard to appreciate the scale so I wanted to show you one image that I took with my #fujifilmx_us X-T2 and another with my #goprohero5 so you can at least get an idea of just how massive the Redwoods are!! 🌲#RedwoodCountry #thisisadventure #humboldtredwoods #visitcalifornia #redwoodtrees #findyourpark
