The best way to teach your family to eat whole foods, is to grow whole foods. You also know what's been sprayed on your crops - in this case nothing, I'm an organic gardener so nothing nasty goes by my fruit and veg. If I lose some to pests that's fine I allow extra plants for this exact reason. Eat clean, organic, local grown food from your own garden, containers, window planters or hanging baskets. There's always something that you can grow no matter where you live. Even if it's only a few herbs or salad leaves on a kitchen windowsill, you know where it's come from and the satisfaction you get eating something you've grown is priceless. Its a gardening day today in this house 🏡 🥦🥕🌽🥒.
Our #figs are so close to being ready, they just need another week or so and there will be a bunch for us to enjoy. Not sure what variety this is but some years we get a early summer and fall harvest although this year the first harvest was not great. I also need to prune it because it's getting way too tall and the birds are getting all the top fruit. I wander if there will ever be a time when everything is done and there are no more projects in the pipeline waiting their turn.
