Never give up your dreams, or your dreams will give you up. 💥 • In manchen Momente erscheint mir die Welt so einfach, so simpel. Im nächsten Moment nervt das #erwachsensein . When I was 13, my friend and I talked about what our perfect date would be. In DETAIL. Mine was easy. I said I would go to the fair. He would hold my hand. We would share a funnel cake. Maybe kiss at the top of the Ferris Wheel. 🎡 We would run from the rides to the games, where he would win me a prize. A goldfish, if I were lucky. Definitely not one of those huge stuffed animal prizes, since I wouldn’t want him to carry it around because then he wouldn’t be able to keep his hand in mine. Or his arm around my waist. I had also planned what I would wear. Daisy dukes, cowboy boots, and a red bandana shirt with a white paisley pattern that I could tie around myself. With fringe in the back. I told ya it was detailed. The real life version is that I went to the fair in work attire because I forgot to pack a “fair-appropriate” outfit. My hair was a hot mess from Tennessee humidity. I didn’t eat a funnel cake because my boys devoured it in two seconds. I wasn’t on a date. But I savored every minute. I watched the eyes of two little boys fill up with wonder when they first saw the colorful lights. My ears heard the beautiful sound of screaming from excitement on the “rollercoaster.” Two small hands who love and adore me stayed in mine most of the night. My oldest even gave me a kiss on the top of the Ferris Wheel. My youngest told me I looked beautiful. And hellloooooo?!? I don’t know where I’ve been but apparently there’s a thing called deep fried cinnamon rolls. I about cried as I ate it (y’all know how I am with cinnamon rolls). Last night, my perfect date came to fruition. Work clothes, sugar-high meltdowns, terrifying rides, and all. I am thankful. My heart is full.
