When the sweet ache of being alive, Lodged between who you are And who you will be, Is awakened, Befriend this moment. It will guide you. Its sweetness is what holds you. Its ache is what moves you on. - Mark Nepo, "The Moment of Poetry"
Happy birthday to miss Lola Bear! She turns 5 today. Where has the time gone? Luke went up to her and said “cheese” hinting that I should take a picture I guess? Lol We love our pug. #lola#puglove#adoptdontshop#presspause
💀📚 LEARNING 📚💀 . I'm so fortunate to be attending a 5 day course this week with a wonderful teacher Norman Blair. I knew I would love him when I read his book (I'm going to ask if he'll sign it for me before the end of the course..!) This course is all about Yin Yoga, a practice very dear to me. I LOVE Yin and everything about it. I believe it's what the whole world could do with a little more of. Pressing pause, slowing down, going inwards, letting go. This morning began with a lengthy discussion where I just soaked up all of the knowledge & wisdom that came from both Norman and the other students on the course. We were then treated to a lovely practice (without props) and blissful Savasana (ok there were sandbags involved then!) The afternoon was a fantastic workshop delivered by Emma Charlton, a wonderful teacher, aromatherapist and body worker. It was all anatomy. I have to admit, sometimes I'm a bit overwhelmed by the anatomical theory, it blows my mind! Our bodies are SO fascinating and SO complex and I sometimes don't feel like I can possibly learn it all! And the truth is, I can't - not many people can.. But I've taken a lot away from this afternoon (copious notes included!) I love being a student of yoga and will remain so forevermore. I love attending workshops, going on courses and just practising with other teachers. Hopefully all of that will make me a better teacher. It's my intention to share as much as I can with as many people as I can about all that yoga is. I feel it, my dharma, my purpose. I already can't wait to get back into class and share some of this yoga joy around! #eternalstudent#skelly#alwayslearning . . . . . . . . . . . . #yoga#yogateacher#yogagirl#yogablog#yogablogger#northwestyoga#learning#education#sharingknowledge#selfimprovement#anatomy#training#yinyoga#yogawithnorman#teachertraining#keeplearning#study#share#yogisofinstagram#yogaeveryday#yogaisntjuststretching#slowdown#presspause#skeleton
Today is my New York Anniversary! 24 YEARS in this crazy big city! In 1990 I moved here from Maine 🌲 a week after I graduated from High School. I moved back to Maine in '94 after my mother passed away and came back to 🗽 in '98. Been here ever since! I was looking through a box of old photos and found these gems (ha!) #tbt to 1990- age 18- a bad back lit photo but I like it because we're on top of the World Trade Center (which I would much later see fall from my rooftop). I'm with my younger sister, Melissa. This was taken in the winter before I moved here that June. And to 1998- age 26- when I returned. Empire State shot. Time flies, as they say! More so, because as things change, they also stay the same. That has never been more true than here. ✌
Happy International Day of Yoga🧘🏼♀️ * Yoga has been with me through school stress, break ups, injuries and anxiety. It’s lifted me up (and knocked me down lol 😂🤣) and challenged my body and mind to work as one. * What brings you to your mat?
