🚀 A powerful start is one of the most important things of a presentation, and certainly of a pitch. In the first 30 seconds 🕒 your audience makes subconscious judgment calls whether what you have to say is interesting and deserves their attention or not‼️ . The part of the brain that pays attention to your pitch is the most primitive one and filters everything for survival: “Can I eat this?”, “Can I mate with this?”, “Will I be more powerful with this?”. If your intro gives your audience the slightest hint that your content matches none of these points then you have lost your audience’s attention for good 😪😴. . Unfortunately, many pitches start very poorly with sentences like these: “Well, thank you for having me here today …. Ehhhm, I am really delighted and excited about the opportunity to speak to you today …”. A lot of fluffy fluff talk without much content 🗣️. . What you wanna do instead is coming across as a professional who knows exactly what he/she is saying. How do you get there? By scripting the first 30 seconds of your pitch. This is vital for the success of your presentation and for reaching your desired outcome 🎯. So give yourself the time to write down at least three different versions of your opening and test them out loud. You will be surprised how differently words come across when you speak them compared to when you read them.
