Blinding America with my white legs since the 80s. 🤙 Last year we were total newbies at the whole nomadic living thing. We just kind of wandered around and stayed at each place for a week or two. But we got tired of campgrounds really fast. For the most part, they're expensive, crowded, noisy, smoky and usually not near the part of town you want to be in. And some didn't allow me to express my inner redneck with all of my camping accessories. 😂 Allow me to explain. This photo is from an RV park in New Mexico. It was very sunny and very hot so we got out our big, conspicuous three sided tent for Riley so he could sit outside in the shade with us. Later that afternoon, someone from the campground walked over and pointed at the tent and said, "someone complained about your tent." I laughed thinking he was joking. But he wasn't. I explained that it was for our senior dog so he could stay out of the sun. But the guy insisted it had to come down and stood there until I disassembled the tent and put Riley back in the Airstream. I could tell he felt a little sheepish about the whole situation. But that's the thing about campgrounds. There are rules, understandably, but sometimes they are downright silly. So when our new Airstream is finished, we plan to avoid RV parks as much as possible. Because if I want to construct a 12' tall multi-room castle made out of ice in the middle of the desert for Riley, by golly I'm gonna do it. 😂 - - - - #vanlife#rv#airstream#camping#homeonwheels#airstreamlife#campinglife#roadtrip#airstreamrenovation#campingtrip#projectvanlife#liveriveted#campingfun#airstreamdreams#campingofficial#homeonwheelstour#airstreamliving#campingwithdogs#homeiswhereyouparkit#vintageairstream#campingout#ontheroad
Since finishing the RV remodel we realized we haven’t taken many photos in it. Today Bryce wanted to test out our new setup from @CanonUSA so we had a little mommy daughter photoshoot 🤱🏻. If you’re wondering it’s the Canon Speedlite 470 EX-AI on our EOS 6D Mark II. We’ve never used a flash in our photos before because of how unnatural it looks, but this thing makes almost every photo look good! Also little Avalyn is showing more personality...and it just keeps getting better. #bouncelikeapro#ad#canon
I have an announcement that's equal parts sad, exciting, and daunting. Alex and I went out to the trailer this past weekend with the plan to remove some wall panels and find the source of the water damage. Every time we step foot into the trailer, we take a little closer look than the time before and uncover more problems.⠀ ⠀ This time, we found water damage underneath the kitchen counter that's been there for a long time. The subfloor was completely rotted and dry -- so much so that my finger went through the plywood.⠀ ⠀ This being the case and it being a 45-year-old trailer that hasn't really seen the road in over a decade, we've decided to head back to the drawing board with our renovation plans. This is no longer a quick fix and a couple coats of paint. This is a gut job. We're taking it down to the bones and building everything from scratch.⠀ ⠀ This is multi-faceted.⠀ ⠀ It's a lot more work, money, and time. We weren't planning for this and, therefore, don't know how much money or time it will take. But this is our dream. We're doing it, one way or another.⠀ ⠀ On the other hand, we have the opportunity to make this trailer one-of-a-kind and to live in it knowing every square inch of it was built the right way, that there is no mold growing in the walls, that we're not going to fall through the floor a month after we hit the road.⠀ ⠀ The upshot is that we can also document this entire process and, hopefully, make it easier for someone in the future and entertain you guys at the same time.⠀ ⠀ That is all. Rant over. Go outside.⠀ Taylor
