✨Only bring things into your home that spark joy✨This topic is a little different than what I typically post about, but for me, goes hand-in-hand with self love and care. 🌱 Over the past two years, I have really embraced more of a #minimalist lifestyle. I’ve never been one to be super attached to my stuff, but after moving into a new home combined with devastating fires that claimed my family home and so many of my friends homes and belongings, I realized I had a bunch of stuff I didn’t care about that was just taking up space and added no value to my life ✨ So, what did I do? I got rid of it. I had 16, yes, 16 random “pajama” t-shirts. I now have 2. I had a pen collection of over 100 half used ball-point pens 🙄 My Point?: Little things like this, add up and consume our space/lives. God forbid, your home caught on fire and you couldn’t save any of the stuff you actually care about bc it was buried under T-shirts and boxes of unused office supplies (#truestory). ✨ I then began reading books like, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by @mariekondo (which I highly suggest!), watching YouTubers who lived minimally, and began inheriting bits and pieces of their practices. Eventually, tidying and getting rid of things that served me no purpose began feeling like an act of #selfcare. 🌱 I now feel more clear minded, happy when I walk through my door, and confident that all of the items I care about are somewhere that I can easily extract in seconds in the event of catastrophe. ✨ I’d love to know your thoughts on this topic. Do you feel overwhelmed by your stuff? Do you already practice minimalism and/or conscious about what you bring home? 🌱 I’m also curious, would you be interested in more decluttering/minimalism content from me? Comment “👏🏻” if so:)
Cheers, to this amazing dad and husband. 🎉 Thank you for all you do for us! Molly & I love you - xoxo * this photo was taken in October, after the firestorm. Really, all we had was right here. What you cannot see, but I think you can feel, is how tightly we are holding each other. When I say thanks to Bruce, I mean it literally. I don’t know how we’d have made it without his strength and love to guide us through these past months. * * * #happyfathersday#bestfather#besthusbandever#celebrate#givethanks#sonomastrong#santarosastrong
