They are a great chest building exercise that requires only your own bodyweight ... you can literally do them anywhere! However, if performed incorrectly you won’t be making the most out of this great exercise and run the risk of potential injury. DON'T: Have your elbows at 90 degrees to your upper body. This tends to lead to an involvement of the Trap muscles and also puts your shoulders in a vulnerable position. DO: Ensure your shoulders are moved “down” and away from your ears Set you elbows at a 45 degree angle to your upper body, a more favourable position for your shoulders.
