“I want to simply say, thank you. It feels great knowing that I was able to get a second chance,” says retired @NYPD Police Officer Thomas Drake, who collapsed in cardiac arrest in the Times Square subway station. FDNY EMTs from #station7 were already in the station treating an unrelated non-critical patient when they were flagged down to assist. They went right to work, performing CPR and using a defibrillator to restore his pulse. Paramedics from #station8 arrived to provide advanced care, assist his breathing, and fully restore his heart rate to a normal rhythm. EMTs from @NYULangone arrived to assist with transport to the hospital, and the EMTs from Station 7 went back to their original patient without missing a beat. Today, May 22, Mr. Drake reunited with the first responders who saved his life at the #fdny Second Chance Ceremony in Brooklyn.
