Where I’m at... by @devoted_dad __ It’s hard putting this photo out, I’m not in the best shape I have been but I’m still happy with my body (most of the time). __ I’ve just come back from San Diego, surrounded by lots of fitness professionals and that always drive me to improve! __ So with the help @coachchuckmorgan who is doing a similar journey right now and with the help of an awesome program from @harefit_ it’s time to get focussed again.  __ My family and business has been the main focus over the last couple of years. I plan on keeping them priority but will put more consistency into my training and nutrition.  __ So I hope you take something from me sharing this photo. (You don’t have to live in the gym and kitchen to be in decent shape). __ I don’t have super ripped abs and massive biceps, but most the Dads I train don’t have that as a priority either.  __ Do you? __ Don’t get me wrong, with my knowledge I can help you get there. But I have other people on my team that are used to dialling in at that level and have the expertise to go along with the knowledge @heine_np  __ I will share my journey over the next 12 weeks with you.  The program is 30 minute workouts, 3 times a week. 5 Simple Actions to G.S.D. by @coachchuckmorgan . . The main thing I wish I knew years ago is that getting sh*t done isn't as difficult as most people make it out to be... especially if you take these 5 simple actions. . 1 - Create A Big Picture. What is it that you are working towards? This might sound a bit obvious but you have to make sure you have that big picture CLEAR in your head. Write it down, create an image board, tell everyone who will listen, just make sure it is clear and defined image and you will be well on your way. . 2 - Small Manageable Steps. Break your tasks down into small manageable steps. Every task can be broken down into steps. Instead of setting yourself a task of "Lose Weight" break it down into steps you can actually achieve. a) Figure out your calories in and out. b) Make your calories in lower than your calories out consistently. c) Monitor your progress. Simple, and now you'll reach the goal. . 3 - Prioritize. Another simple action that so many people miss. DO THE IMPORTANT SH*T FIRST! We've all done it, we want to tick off a bunch of things on our to do list so we just do the easy stuff first but never seem to get anywhere. Instead, figure out what is most important and go and get that done NOW! . 4 - Plan Your Week. Go back and check out my post on Never Miss A Monday. It sets you up for a great week but you need to plan the whole week out and make sure you know what you need to get done as your week progresses. . 5 - Act Every Day. Another simple one - just do something EVERY DAY to move you towards your goal. If your goal is to write a book then commit to writing 1000 words every day. My goal is to read a book a week, so I need to make sure I read EVERY DAY or I'll end up trying to read 1000 pages on a Saturday night to catch up. If I do that do you think I will reach my goal? . Don’t mix up ACCOUNTABILITY with your WHY! @devoted_dad __ If you’ve got a deep enough WHY (make sure you’ve completed the 5 WHYs task). Then that gives you the drive and the reason you want to change, but you still need accountability.  __ My good friend @coachchuckmorgan is giving me accountability right now but he doesn’t help with the why.  I don’t want to change for him, like I know you aren’t changing for your friends.  But I couldn’t do it without him! __ Accountability can be hard to find because we are normally the same as the people around us. So, if we want to change it means they won’t help with accountability.  __ I was heavily into the car scene, but as I began my journey to take my health to the next level, they weren’t on the same one.  __ You need to find someone who’s passionate about changing like you. When you’re having a down day, they’ll be up and help you keep focus. And vice versa! __ Accountability is key! __ I had a LONG day yesterday, but I finished it off with a quick workout at 9pm. 🌟FITNESS ADVICE FOR BUSY WORKING DADS By @bodysculptorben⠀ .⠀ 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 If you have a full time job and a family then your life is already pretty hectic. I get it and can sympathise more that ever since becoming a dad and step dad, life get’s crazy at times and it can be hard to stay on top of your fitness goals. Here is a few tips to manage that better:⠀ .⠀ ⏰ Gym time is valuable use it wisely, you need a plan of action before you head in, don’t coast around the gym floor, wondering from exercise to exercise, get in and get it done with structure.⠀ .⠀ Prioritize lifting weights over cardio - If you’re doing cardio for the cardiovascular and health benefits then great, crack on. However if you want to get the best results in terms of your physique then you should prioritize lifting weights. You are going to build/ preserve more muscle mass which will ultimately make you look better.⠀ .⠀ 💵 Do plenty of compound lifts - These exercises will give you your most bang for your buck. You will work multiple muscles with one movement, so these should be prioritised over isolation work.⠀ .⠀ 🚶🏼‍Stay active when you can, particularly if you have a sedentary job. Weekends and lunch breaks can be a great opportunity to get out there and burn some calories.⠀ .⠀ Finally, the unexpected is likely to happen. Your child might get sick, your partner might have to work late, a whole load of factors might happen, eliminating your gym time. Ya know, being in a deficit is the main thing and of course, knowing that you should be in a deficit is half of the battle but how do you actually ensure that you’re in a deficit? - These 6 practical tips will definitely helps you make being in a deficit a little easier!! - Protein helps you being satiated for longer times. So definitely use this to your advantage. - I do think having a salad with protein a day will most likely lower your carb intake and thus  your total caloric intake. Not to say that carbs are bad, but it’s just another easy way to eat less calories during the day! -  Having protein snacks on hand instead of highly palatable (carb and fat) snacks will help you a lot, especially with satiety and your overall daily protein intake. Also, if you normally eat a snickers bar as a snack and switch to protein bar, you’ll probably see a significant calorie reduction too. - Caffeine is hunger suppressant, you probably already know this, but use it to your advantage. - AND keeping your meals simple is a HUGE one. I do see lots of people eating meals consisting out of 25 ingredients, no wonder keeping track of your nutrition is so hard for you. Keep yourself cool calm & collected. - 💋The 1 plate rule is easy. Fill your plate with the food you want then once that plate is finished your done. If you keep having mini servings so you can keep going back for more you will likely end up eating up way more than if you just had the one trip. - 💎One way to guarantee mindless eating is to stand or sit next to a table full of open free food be a "smart Sally “ & move away your ass away from the chips & dips. - 🍉Extra “sneaky Sue” calories can be avoided by keeping condiments to more of a drizzle than a dumping & keeping liquid calories as low as possible.
