Toggle is one in a million. We’ve been proud parents to this tiny little peanut for the last 4 years. We found him on CraigsList while living in Vegas, but we’ve always considered him to be a rescue because he had suffered from extreme neglect while living with his previous owners… Vegas is pretty much the desert. The heat frequently gets up to 120 degrees in the summer, yet his previous owners felt like chaining him up in the backyard was more than sufficient. He didn’t get walks. No one played with him. When we took him to the vet for the first time he was underweight. He had an ear infection, an infection in his teeth, a cough, an infected toenail, and worms. And the vet said that the heat he was exposed to was simply inhumane. On his second vet visit, we brought him in because of some moles… which turned out to be cancerous. The vet recommended putting him down. By this point Toggle was family, and there was no way we would have ever considered that. Fast forward four years… he’s now a highfalutin NYC nugget… posing in elaborately designed photos like this one. :) @iandloveandyoupet sent us a whole bunch of amazing dog food and treats and challenged us to share a confession about how and why we love our pet. Well I have a serious confession and a funny one. The serious one… when the vet recommended we put him down, we vehemently said no and proceeded to shell out over 20,000 dollars over the next four years to take care of him. We skipped vacations for three of those years, lived in dumpy apartments, and I rocked a fake engagement ring so that we could afford this expensive little CraigsList pug. And then for the funny one… my husband and I both love the way his tiny farts smell. Everyone in our office gasps and backs away when he farts. But we secretly love it. @iandloveandyoupet is donating a meal to a dog waiting for adoption at National Mill Dog Rescue for every confession that is posted using #feedthelove and @iandloveandyoupet!
