Being self employed isn’t always easy. You have to be outgoing to attain new clients. As a hairstylist and makeup artist I am a walking advertisement for my business. ❧ When I was starting out it was hard for me to open up about myself. I got a lot of new clients by being approached and getting complimented on how I had styled my hair and how my make up looked. I pushed and forced myself to be more outgoing in order to get clients and so I can do what I love. I went through boxes of business cards and it paid off. ❧ Now most of my new clientele comes from word of mouth and from referrals from returning clients who I’ve made happy. Since I’m no longer hitting the pavement, so to speak, and I’m behind the chair more, I haven’t had to push myself to be as outgoing like I once did. The one thing I still struggle with is talking about myself to potential clients. ❧ Lately, I’ve made it a priority to push myself to open up a little more about me as a person and business owner.
