International Women’s Day: The ‘time is now’ to transform global push for women’s rights into action – UN This year, International Women’s Day comes at a pivotal moment, and with a wave women’s activism – from the #metoo movement to #timesup and beyond – exposing the structures that have allowed women's oppression to flourish, the United Nations is urging the world to stand with rural and urban women activists to topple the remaining barriers to gender equality and empowerment. “The historical and structural inequalities that have allowed oppression and discrimination to flourish are being exposed like never before,” Secretary-General António Guterres said in his message on the Day, marked annually on 8 March. From Latin America to Europe to Asia, on social media, on film sets, on the factory floor and in the streets, women are calling for lasting change and zero tolerance for sexual assault, harassment, and discrimination of all kinds, said the UN chief, declaring that achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls “is the unfinished business of our time, and the greatest human rights challenge in our world.” “The activism and advocacy of generations of women has borne fruit,” he continued. “There are more girls in school than ever before; more women are doing paid work and in senior roles in the private sector, academia, politics and in international organizations, including the United Nations.” However, some remaining serious obstacles include that more than a billion women lack legal protection against domestic sexual violence; over the next decade millions more girls will undergo genital mutilation; and women’s representation in parliaments stands at less than one quarter – and even lower in boardrooms. “Where laws exist, they are often ignored, and women who pursue legal redress are doubted, denigrated and dismissmantled,” he lamented. Noting that the UN should “set an example for the world,”

Happy International Women’s Day! : We stand on the sacrifices of a million women before us — what can we do to make this mountain taller so the women after us can see farther? : #internationalwomensday#timesup @timesupnow
✨ A lot about the Royal wedding happening today has ambushed me to pen down a few things which I usually don't flow with, especially if it's a hype. But since this wedding has survived a lot of controversies and will today become a success (also bcs i repeatedly stress about these social issues in all my writings), i decided to share my thoughts with y'all on this. ✨ Ms. Markle comes from a mixed race. She's an American. Her family history is complicated. She's been divorced in 2013 by Trevor Engelson. She speaks her mind (like Diana) and is a strong advocate of feminism. She's outside the Royal family (of course). She's 3 YRS. OLDER than Prince Harry. Her father isn't attending the wedding and she'll walk alone half the aisle after which Prince Charles will escort her to her groom. She has also cancelled the 'obeying' Prince Harry part from her vows. Why then, Harry chose her? It's simple- Harry once said Africa is his spiritual home and he has always been a highly sensitive person for global causes and all. He has great military influence and thus is a man who's quite apt at bending the norms, thankfully he's not a hypocrite like most. This alone- is the power of ideology for a real man- who then goes beyond everything that's *culturally accepted yet absurd* to spend the rest of his life with someone his heart, mind and soul align with. And this begs to reverse the phenomenon- Easier Said than Done to Easier Done than Said ♥ Harry is the true definition of a real gentleman and Meghan has truly earned her gem 💎💍 Definitely #teammarkle 💪 . . . . . . . . . . #royalwedding#princeharry#meghanmarkle#harrywedsmeghan#royalsofbritain#duchessofsussex#timesup#portraitphotography#meditation#faith#mentalhealth#wellnesscoach#peace#writersofinstagram#pakistaniblogger#lahoreblogger#vsco#artofvisuals#instagood#katemiddleton#globe_people #agameoftones#ourclickdays#igerspakistan#pakistangram#lahoregram .

Well that was hell. Actual hell. I underestimated the heat and I got over excited at the start and almost ran myself out of the game... but running alongside all those brilliant women was a real treat. We met we chatted and we paraded through the streets together. We all ran at our own pace, but if you passed another Pankhurst Sista, you gave her a fucking high five! It felt incredible to run for @thepankhurst with so many like minded women, through Suffragette City! Really incredible but really fucking awful 😜🥇✊
