Yearning to feel safe yet I'm secretly armed. Too tired to talk, preach, argue and show myself. So I stay home, under the covers with this weapon of mine that has destroyed me many moons before. I look for the answers in the darkness as it becomes a soft blanket I can wrap myself around. I've been working with my emotions which have been unconsciously inherited and deeply contribute to each and every day of my life. I watch them in movement like a researcher, becoming inquisitive about the tiny details that make up the huge equation my complex brain cannot yet comprehend. I keep reminding myself why I practice, why I do what I do, and all I can answer to that is for days like this, always for days like this. If your day like this feels like a slap in your face, you're not alone. If you feel hopeless, you're not alone. If the universe is presenting you with obstacles, you're not alone. You are never alone. Believe it. Let your practice transmute, translate and transform the energy that creates the ultimate block of your own liberation, your own suffering. Vrksasana in vasisthasana. A great prep for the full pose of Vasisthasana. Preparations: Vrksasana, side plank on elbow and hand, virabhadasana 2 and trikonasana. Focus on extending the arms when not weight bearing and create the same feeling Tips: place the base hand a little higher than the line of the shoulder to reduce compression. Reach the top hand to lift out of the base shoulder. Work on side plank on the hand with the top foot scissored forward and back as well as together. Usually falling out of the balance can be saved by placing that foot behind you to catch yourself. This is how I roll, vasisthasana-style. These are a little more challenging than the rolling chaturangas I posted yesterday. They require a similar rapid transition from loose to tight, with the added challenge of finding your balance. Keeping your feet about hip width apart as you roll up to side plank will make that a little easier. Give them a try. They’re fun!
