Adding to my skill set. I’ve just completed a two day hands-on workshop with Dr Kevin Ryan learning some brilliant techniques to treat pain . The techniques are gentle and quite profound. #learningmagic#holistic
My husband's grandmother is part of the 'Windrush' generation and her grandson Tous (aka brother-in-law) has shared some very thought provoking words. 'Granny' as I call her is the only other person I've called that besides my maternal grandmother because she makes me feel like I'm one of her own.
Been an absolutely massive weekend for many reasons. Most importantly though for my maternal grandmother, Mrs Eileen Adams aka #superg, who, as one of the giants of the #windrushgeneration is, for me and my family living history. 😢 Friday gone she was invited to Downing Street, the beating heart of UK government where our current Prime Minister, #theresamay was privileged enough to meet her. I won't tell you what was said, but if you know Super G, you know she kept it real, really real... 😂 🐯 Anyway, it wouldn't be right to let this weekend pass without marking a digital record of her moment. 😉 The mere fact that Super G - hailing from #guyana - and her generation came here to give unforseen chances to generations of their bloodlines speaks volumes. I often wonder would my generation or others ahead of mine, do the same? 🤔 Granny's generation stepped up and all throughout the #commonwealth answered the call of their 'mother' country to return to post-World War II Britain and rebuild it. They did so diligently and with honour. The hostility they faced was raw, often inhuman and always personal. They, for that reason alone, remain honourable heroes. 🦁 🔑 They were treated with so much disdain and disrespect and so many were later essentially branded as stateless individuals by the state that invited them here as citizens. It was a known issue within government: accepted and, for decades, ignored. Of course, it wasn't all bad but our expat pioneers endured hardships that those whom follow in their footsteps never did. 😑 Still, history will show that a wrong has been recognised and is in the process of being corrected, even if slowly. 😑 ⛙ In any case to Super G and her almost-forgotten generation, I will eternally salute you. Without your incalculable sacrifice, my bloodline and I would not be here enjoying the fruits of your quiet labour. 😘😍👏 < < #windrushheroes#youchangedbritishculture#nomoredryfood#venividivici#expatpioneers
It was great to be home and spend time with family and hear more stories as well as be challenged in my own methodologies. When I stepped in to my Aunt Helen’s home, she was playing the fiddle, my Aunt Shirley is an educator and wealth of Indigenous Knowledge, my Uncle Brian always has a sense of humour in the way he relays the most interesting histories and well Mom, she continues to radiate strength, compassion and love. #metis#homelands#indigenous#survivance#thrivance#westandontheshouldersofgiants#humbled#grateful

He was drafted into the Army Air Corp in 1943, at age 18. Edwards was born in August 1924 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the Flight Chief of Flight A in the 617th Bomb Squadron, responsible for the flight readiness of five B 25 medium Bombers. The 617th Bomb Squadron was one of four Squadrons that made up the 477th Bombardment Group. The Tuskegee Airmen epitomize courage and heroism. They would succeed and go on to serve in spectacular fashion. Their success would force military leaders to take a hard look at the policies of segregation that treated black servicemen and women as second class citizens. #militaryappreciationmonth#apeoplesjourney#tuskegeeairmen
