My #tassels and silks have all been of cycle this season on my corn. This is #strawberrypopcorn 2 tassels up and zero silks so far. I will be happy with 4 ears of corn for first time in a pot of this #testcrop
Going to need to train this vine back down...its clinging and climbing the bird netting😐 This variety of #watermelon can grow very large so there will be no slinging it. It needs to be on the ground. Hope to get 1 or 2 of each melon this year and maybe a few cucamelons.
Harriet Holt at Helmingham Hall . . . this is my friend Harriet inspecting the staking of Limonium vulgare in the walled garden. Harriet has a lovely garden in Essex where she concentrates namely on growing cut flowers which she sells locally. She took me on as a WRAGS trainee back in 2014 and since then we became good friends. She is a wonderful teacher. This photo captures her inquisitive side and continued search for ‘how to get results’. She is hands down the best grower of dahlias I know and I so miss the days we spent gardening together. The last photo is of her and husband Tim peaking into one of the uninhabited estate buildings (we are always talking of building projects). Tim prepares the best elevenses’ and is also a dab hand in the garden, especially topiary. A few more pics in between of our garden visit last Thursday, where we spent the entire day on the estate @helminghamhallgardens . #helminghamhall#gardens#gardeningfriends#suffolkgarden#jacobean#garden#moat#walledgarden#herbaceousborder#prettygarden#ruralestate#deer#dayoutwithfriends#womengardeners#july2018
