Let’s talk about goals. We all have them, they are the initial spark that feed our motivation. They fade and intensify, morph and flip, feed inspiration and fuel feelings of failure ⚡️ Goals can be the driving force to our successes OR they can be the one thing that holds us back ✨ SO HOW DO WE MAKE GOAL SETTING WORK FOR US?
• make macro & micro goals. Look at the big picture but create teeny tiny stepping stones that you can easily tick off to create a sense of progress daily.
• constant review. As we grow, our goals need to change with us. For instance you may be motivated to start Pilates because of a goal to wear that bikini next summer. A few months down the track you realise it’s actually the physical strength and freedom of movement you crave. After that, mental clarity may be your motivator. Or simply the dedication of time to focus solely on yourself. You might even end up having to the goal to teach Pilates! (Yep, this one was me, @reneesiljeg) ... be observant...and fluid.
• write it down. Everything. What you want, how you plan to get there, why you want it, who will help you, what challenges will you face, how will you overcome them...the clearer the better. This will weed out anything you really don’t care about, direct you to goals that matter, and help to create the positive energy required to bring your goals to fruition.
• my last little tip is the most important one. Take everything day by day. You have NOT failed. Ever. Each day offers new lessons, growth, experience and ways to contribute to those around you. Goals are a track-keeper. That’s all. They offer inspiration and a loose framework so never measure your success or happiness against them. You’ll end up where you’re meant to be.
